My AKAI PDP5016H use to reboot at any giving time.. Most of the time it would reboot on it's own 1 to 3 times before it would stay on.. If I unplugged the power, repowered and did a hard power off and back on everything worked great until the next reboot "on it's own".. It finally got to where it took 10 to 15 tries before it would come on.. Now all it does is do the fail safe flashing red to yellow continuous and never powers up...

Hello,

The problem this television is experiencing is from the lamp of the television. It is faulty and needs replacement.

The lamp is located right behind the screen, it is what gives the screen light when turned on.

The reason the lamp got faulty is due to overheating. Once the panel is overheated, then the bulb will be damaged and might be too weak to bring light to the screen.

Try to call in a repairman to fix this for you, because the process is very technical and difficult, it requires the hands of an expert.

Another reason your television is not coming up might be that there is partial contact on the power panel of the television. to fix this is simple, all you have to do is open up the television, get the power panel and clean it with naphthalene using a brush in order to clean up any lead that is causing the partial contact. Dry it up and intall it back on the television.

Or you can get a new power panel for the television.

Take care

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. A plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. You’ll need to check the power supply board first for any swollen/bulged capacitors. As power supply board is the hardest working board in a plasma TV, it develops voltage to supply all components, high current + high voltage. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Thats a real tough call on your problem as the set acts like its working normal and then gives out. It could be any number of things, but mostlikely somthing is drawing too much power causing a protection fault hence the power off. These types of problems are very hard to diagnose as the stuff your looking at looks good, its not until it warms up (even being a few seconds or so) that they go bad. You can allways put a meter on the VA and VS to see if there is a flucuation in voltage or even a spike and that could tell you possibly which board is the culpret, but the best is to replace and not repair as switching supplys can be a pain.

It may be your serviceer does not know where to look for the parts. Akai is made by many different manufacturers and the parts for each manufacturer come from different distributors. I beleive your model is supported by Vance Baldwin 1-954-723-9191.
