Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Water is leaking from overflow tray under freezer section of KitchenAid Superba KSRE25F. I drained water but it refilled tray in about 3 hours. Suspect the water filter connections are leaking but I can't remove filter holder to verify. Short of cutting the hoses to the filkter holder, is there a way to remove it?

Hello,

the filter is the right area to check in the situation. Follow the steps below on how to remove your water filter:

  1. The filter status display will help you know when to change your
water filter. When the display reads 10%, order a new filter. It is
recommended that you replace the filter when the display reads 10% OR when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases. The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.
  2. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.
  3. Pull the filter straight out.
  4. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter. IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your refrigerator.
  5. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.
  6. Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.
  7. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.
  8. Flush the water system. Use a sturdy cup or glass. Depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat this process until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever. Hold down for 5 seconds and then release for 5 seconds. Do this on/off process for about 2 minutes. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system.
I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I have a Kitchenaid Superba side-by-side refrigerator that is 14 years old. I noticed water on the floor tonight and the tray below the freezer was full of water. I emptied out the tray but water seems...

There is a hose that runs from under the evaporator coil inside the freezer (it is connected to the inside drain pan) to the outside to deposit the defrost water into the outside drain pan. That hose may be cracket, broken, or maybe when you put the outside pan back somehow the hose did not wind up above the pan so the water would go into the pan. Check the location of the pan. If you need more help, just write back.

Water is leaking from the bottom of the fridge.

Your fridge has likely gone through a defrost cycle. What frost was present has been melted and drained into the tray. During this cycle, the walls of the freezer are warmed up as well to facilitate melting the ice.

The air blown from the condenser fan should be blowing across the collection tray, and will evaporate the water in a short time. If you think that there is too much water, or it has started to over flow the tray, you can try scooping the water out using a small cup, or place the corner of a large towel into the water to soak it up. In either case, turn off power to the fridge first.

Water leaking from underneath right side of refrigerator. Shut off water line to ice maker and still slowly leaking. Where is this coming from?

check the defrost drain line and catch tray under the fridge. you may just have moved the hose out of the tray or the tray may be full.

or it could just be your water valve has a slow leak. try turning off the water farther back on the supply line.

Defrost pan keeps overflowing

On the freezer side at the bottom of the freezer coil there is a drain. There should be a thin aluminium filiament attached to the defrost element and feeding down into the drain tube. This filiament conducts heat from the element down the tube preventing ice forming in the tube and keeping it clear.

Kitchenaid superba icemaker leaking/freezing in freezer section

Your water hose that connects to the back of the freezer may be loose. Move the fridge out away and in the back make sure it is tightend.

Let me know if it helped :)

Ice forming bottom of freezer leaking out the door

It is acutually a collector pan for the drain hose. When the refrigerator runs a defrost cycle (about every couple days), that pan collects the water from the ice that is melted and drains it through a hose inside the unit, to a pan under the unit. You will have to pull the back panel off the back of the freezer and melt it with either hot water or a hot blowdryer. Do it until you see the water draining freely into the bottom pan.

Drain pan leaking?

there is a drip pan located underneath you ref but most likely your prob is a plugged drain line coming from the freezer. when you ref goes into automatic def the water doesnt run out into the drip pan but instead onto your floor..

you can clean the drain line by removing the rear cover in the freezer compartment and using hot water to thaw the drain below the evap coil.

If you pop the front cover off the ice maker you will find a screw with a plus and minus on it. Adjust it and that will cut the water fill down and should solve the overfill problem. If the ice is not dumping spray the tray with Pam and that should solve the dump problem.
