Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Images loaded directly to printer will print. Images & documents loaded from PC do not. No error messages when printing is requested. Windows Vista hardware manager does not show problems. Printer worked after initial installation. It was removed for a short time. When re-attached it failed to print.

I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Go to the control panel, open Add or Remove software. Click on the driver for your printer, you may need to get the disk out to identify it.

Once removed I would go to the Kodak website and download the driver. It is located here http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-locale=en_US&pq-path=130 .

The original may have bugs or worse. Also you would get all the fixes and the most up to date software. Download and install the driver. Reboot the computer and see what happens. If all goes well you should be printing.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

I would like to print some color pictures in black & white but I cant get it to do it. Any ideas

The black ink produces dark images while color ink produces multicoloered images. Once pictures that appear in color on the computers word documents are dispensed for printing, the color ink makes possible requests. It is impossible to request black charaters from colored ink on the printer.

The reaason it keeps trying to print is because it's in the print queue on your network.
Have whoever sent this to the printer open the print queue and delete it.

I have a pinnacle Pro 901. How do I print in black & white only?

Hello, try this: Start Menu, > Printers and Faxes> then right-click on your printer. Move the pointer down to 'Printing Preferences' and click the 'Advanced' tab. There you will (should!) see 'print in greyscale' . Select this then click 'Apply' then 'OK' at the bottom of the page.

MESSAGE SAYS THE PAGE IS TOO COMPLICATED TO PRINT

Bonnie,

Usually this means exactly what it says. The page is too busy because of heavy graphic data.

There are a couple of things you can try, first, make sure that the document does not contain images that overlay other images this will reduce the graphic load on the page.

Second, add more RAM to the printer.

What kind of a document are you sending to the printer? What application are you using to create the document?

Can you do a "Print to File" off of the printer driver's screen and send the document to me at don.farr@verizon.net I'll be happy to run some diagnostic tools I have and see if I can get it to print.

Printing PDF files

I had this problem after I had fixed a problem printing from Quicken. I was able to print from Quicken by changing the print option in Windows -- mine was set to "Spool documents" and I changed it to "Print directly from printer" -- the advice I was given was to change it from whatever it was set at to the other option. For printing a PDF file, I changed it back to "Spool documents" and it allowed me to print the PDF file. Try this and see if it works for you -- click the Windows Start button and select Settings, then Printers and Faxes. Right click on the selected printer and select Properties. In the properties window look for a setting to print directly to printer or spool documents -- mine was under the Advanced option. Try the option not currently selected -- in my case, I changed it back to Spool documents with Begin printing immediately -- and then try to print a PDF file. It looks like I will have to toggle back and forth when I am printing from Quicken and when I am printing a PDF file. Hope this works for you.
