Question about Sunbeam 2366 MixMaster Series Hand/Stand Mixer

2 Answers

I have a sunbeam mixmaster 2366 mixer that runs wide open all the time. I have replaced the U211B2 IC chip and the triac, but it still runs wide open. Any suggestions?

The speed control pot was bad to begin with. The shaft was broken. It has a switch included with the pot. I changed the pot and switch out also. Could there be a capacitor that is causing the problem? I found C6 to be questionable.

Hi,
I am not an expert inrepairing Sunbeam mixmaster but from my sources I understand that there are some small grooves on the inside shaft of the gears in the mixer that sometimes plug up with flour. If you use a paper clip, straighten it out and bend a very small right angle bend in the last 1/4" you can sometimes reach up into the shaft and clean out the grooves and they will work again. Use a light to see the grooves. Sometimes the small "C clip" on the beater will wear and they can be stretched a little too.
Actually, this is really a poor design of Sunbeam. This mixer was made very cheaply in China and they do have this problem. The only way to replace any parts close to the gears is to purchase the whole motor unit and the cost is too high to justify. Sunbeam is having all of their appliances made it China now and actually I am surprised that they make any parts available.

Hm. by changing the chip and the triac you would think it would work at various selected speeds.

I think that you could have a bad board inside that throws the logic of the triac and IC chip off so that it runs at wide open all of the time.

Change the entire board if possible.

Good luck on this.

Well, a capacitor that is burnt out will probably effect something, but I think that a capacitor acts like a charge holding battery, except it can be discharged and charged cyclically very fast and with low amps on the circuit board.

If you think that changing this will change the ability to control speed, I do not think so.

    However, anything is possible.

I believe there is something wrong with the printed circuit board, not just the questionable capacitor.

In my experience, capacitors are used to help to reduce 'shock' to other components on the board and to help to level out voltages on the board. Capacitors are used in different ways, I know, especially for voltage regulation and smoothing in D.C. circuits.

My sunbeam mixmaster is about 40 years old and suddenly stopped working

The running capacitor finally died. I used to be their factory service tech. You can change it easily by removing the back knob and the handle. The screws are under the silver buttons. The capacitor looks like a 3/4 x 1 1/4' tube with a small nib sticking out each end.

Mixmaster motor won't spin. Leads from circuit board to motor read 119 volts at the motor. voltage does not vary when speed knob is rotated but does turn off & on. 275 W sunbeam mixmaster, white...

so far I determined the thermal fuse had blown. I jumped around it but can get replacement. Now the motor runs full speed when turned on. I suspect the pot turned by the speed knob is bad. Having trouble locating a replacement circuit board.

it is probably the swich /pot combination on the electronic board. The shaft on the unit I have had twisted off and would no longer turn the switch on or off.
