"low memory" message

I'm getting a low memory message on my Microsft Windows desktop computer. I 've deleted everything except my AVG and my browser. I've defragged and cleaned everything possible. Still get "low memory" message.

Hello maxxoo,

There is a utility called Process Explorer on the Windows Sysinternals web site. It is very good at showing which processes are using a lot of memory. It may be helpful in determining what's causing the low memory problem. Process Explorer can be downloaded at this link:

Low disk space


This couldn't be due to a malfunctioning fan, or any other hardware problem, it certainly sounds like a virus but it's hard to know. I advise using this guide t try and remove any viruses or malware.

You need to defragment your hard drive, try this program is free and do the job for you
And also you can use this program to see what prgram starts with windows and you can disable some of them to increase speed.

Hi Pamela,

First, hopefully you have a license and/or install key for AVG or you are using their free product. Because the best way to find out is, if adding AVG is the most recent major change to your system, before these error messages began to appear, then you should uninstall AVG, to see whether AVG itself is the problem.

To do this, you start clean, by doing a shut down and restart.
Then remove/uninstall AVG
Then shut down and restart again.

See if you have problems now that AVG is gone from your computer. I know that it is extremely important to have anti-virus for protection, but not at the cost of your system's stability. You may have to get an alternate product. If you have paid for AVG and recently, try asking their support people for advice on this, even before doing what I suggested. If you are using a Free AVG, then consider spending the money for Norton's Anti-virus 2012, or the most recent version.

Also you mentioned that you have a thumb drive in a USB slot. You might look into using that extra memory not all for photos, but part of it for something called Ready Boost, which works on Vista and Win 7. It dedicates part of your USB memory stick to helping speed up your computer. Do a search on the Microsoft windows site and see if you can use your memory stick for that purpose.

Uninstall and remove AVG Free Edition manually
* Locate and remove AVG Free Edition by deleting the related files, a trained software professional would better do this job.
* Eliminate the registry entries if you can.
* Delete connected directions.
By doing a quick search via the Internet, you can find out what files and registry entries need to be deleted. But this removal is only recommended for computer experts, for deleting the wrong file or registry key may render Windows unbootable.

I have a nokia c5-03 and i get the message:not enough memory to perform operation.delete some data first but i cannot enter anywhere(in settings) or application manager,etc because i get this error. also...


If the phone notifies you if the phone memory is getting low. To free phone memory you have the following options:
  • Move data that you want to keep to an alternative memory (mass memory or memory card, if available) or to a compatible computer.
  • Remove data you no longer need.
Use File Manager or the respective application in your phone to remove data or to move data to alternative memory as described in the user guide. Typically you first mark files to be removed or moved and then you select the corresponding option (Delete orMove to folder).

Use Nokia Ovi Suite to move data to a compatible computer.
In order to free phone memory, you could remove or move the following:
  • Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging
  • Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory
  • Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some phone memory (e.g. select Options > Clear privacy data >Cache).
  • Saved images, videos, or sound files (in Gallery, Photos,Videos or Music player)
  • Contact information (in Contacts)
  • Calendar notes (in Calendar)
  • Downloaded application packages
  • If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them with Application Manager
  • Any other data that you no longer need
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item). After deleting data, restart (power off/on) your phone.
Tips: Use the memory card or mass memory instead of phone memory in the Camera or other applicable applications in case the selection is available (e.g. via Options > Settings >Memory in use).

Try downloading from the Adobe site. (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/). After you click on the download button, follow the instructions. If the download window does not open, check your setting in your browser. If you are blocking downloads or pop up windows in your browser, you may have to respond to a message from your browser or disable that feature until after the download. You may have to disable your virus scanner until after the download as noted on the Adobe download page.

First of all, AVG isn't the best anti virus software, it's free but there's even better for free out there. Delete AVG and go download Avast Free Edition, it's better than AVG and is also free. I also bet that AVG isn't what's really causing your problems, try switching whatever browser you are using to Firefox but before you do that try deleting your cookies and clearing your cache.

you need to uninstall AVG, probably through the Registry since AVG does not have a removal tool.
Once you do so, you can get it to install correctly. Also check that you have the latest windows updates.

Computer problem


The only way to get a reliable anti-virus is to purchase. Use the control panel - add/remove and uninstall any avg programs. Then run msconfig - startup and disable any avg program. Reboot. See what happens. Purchase an anti-virus and load that.

"Memory Low, Delete Some Data"


You might want to try a "Hard-Reset" To do this you turn of your phone, press and hold "Answer Call(Green)"+"3"+"*" and then turn it on. This should reset your phone completely and clear the memory. CAUTION, back up all your vital data before you do this, it clears EVERYTHING.
