Question about Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 Bow Mount Trolling Motor with Foot Control Autopilot and Universal Sonar 2 (55 lb Thrust 54 Shaft)

Open Question

My unit quit/went dead while trolling threw heavy weeds

While I was trolling threw some heavy weeds my power drive V2 stopped working. I pulled the unit back into the mount and noticed that the shaft and power head were very warm. I think I may have overheated the unit because of the added strain from the thick weeds.

I have a Poulan PP025. It runs fine; good acceleration and idle, several hours of great cutting; then the weed-eater suddenly ran as if out of balance, the head then stopped spinning. Any ideas?

curved shaft trimmers use a flex drive in side the case so that it can drive around the bend of the case
they are held in line with bushes spaced along the tube and this prevents the flex drive from binding back over itself
from your description of the problem, pull that flex drive out of the case and check for signs that it has a problem
the problem with bent shafts is that they will not handle any sort of a load and therefor are not suitable for heavy growth, heavy trimmer line or any metal/fixed attachments
the heat in the case will be from the flex drive rubbing on the inside of the case

I have the same motor. That happened to me also luckily I only had a tangle of line I picked up in the weeds.Start by pulling off your prop and checking for something tangled around the shaft. If that is not the case, pull the front case off by removing the two bolts[they should be 10mm] and make shure nothing made its way into the lower unit.If all looks well reassemble and see if you can turn the prop shaft by hand if it turns freely with no noise try to run it.If it doesnt turn or makes a lot of noise chanses arethe electrodes that make the prop turn are out of place. If that is the case get back to me and I can take you step by step in resetting the electrodes.Good Luck.

There is a good chance that he control board is bad. This is a common problem with these units. I have replaced my control board twice.. When the control board goes out, the some function of the unit will not work correctly while other functions work fine. The first time mine went out, the prop motor would not work. The last time the board went out, the unit would only steer right.

Trolling motor doesnt work?

Most trolling motors have in-line breakers, I would start there & see if one went bad, then check the wiring under the foot pedal for broken or corroded contacts, then you will have to trace wires & make sure everything is in order starting at the trolling motor plug.

Minn Kota 80lb 24V Trolling Motor

I had the same problem and found the oring/seal had let water into the motor. I believe it overheats or draws too many amps when wet? New seals fixed mine but I had to replace the bearing because it had been doing this for a while and the bearing had rusted out.

My Bissel stopped working and have no clue why?

Try Bissel .com, maybe you can download a manual from there. But if it just quit, the cord maybe bad. Alot of times if you unplug the cord by pulling on the cord rater then the plug, you cause the wire to eventaully break. That would be the first thing I would check. ( I am assuming that your vac just went completely dead.)
