Question about Sony VAIO VGN-N250E/B Notebook

1 Answer

I have upgraded my laptop's ram from 1GB to 2GB recently, but my computer is only recognizing 1GB. When I run a diagnostic program (like the one from Crucial.com) it says that I only have one ram slot filled. This of course, is incorrect. But I can't figure out how to get the other slot recognized by my computer. It shouldn't be an issue of ram compatibility since both ram sticks are the same model. If someone can give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, there is probably a BIOS switch or a physical DIP switch on the motherboard to fix this problem. I'm not sure which. But, if you contact the manufacturer, they have information on what memory is recommended for your computer memory upgrade.

I wish you luck on this one.

Upgrade my RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb everything is working but the cumputer still register 1 Gb of ram

Did you buy a 2GB ram stick or did you buy 1GB ram X2 so in your laptop you have only 1 stick of ram in there thats 2GB or do you have 2 sticks of ram in there which are 1GB if you have 2 sticks in there means one of them dead and is not registering it on your computer if you have only 1 stick in there thats 2GB but your system only reading it as 1GB then you will need to update your bios as it could be set only to read 1GB

some systems require matching pairs, so since you are using mismatched, it may only recognize 1 GB of the 2gb module

Problem with upgrading my acer extensa 5620z memory to 4GB

Hi there.
I recommend you get another stick of SODIMM to replace what seems to be the faulty stick.
If you are using XP or Vista X86 (32bit) then the system will only recognize 2.8 - 3GB of memory, only 64bit operating systems recognize the full 4GB.

Good luck ad thanks for using FixYa!!

probably due to all of the stuff in your startup folder a new pc comes with. the less stuff in your startup the better. you may need a memory upgrade of 1GB or less. I would go at least to 2GB of RAM

Can i upgrade my MT3705 to 4GB RAM?

If you get rid of Vista and put in 2gb of Ram your Laptop will not need 4 gb of ram.  You need to get it will not support double sided or ECC this is why you can not have 4gb you need 2GB kit (1GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory module
