I have a Gateway FPD 1530 LCD monitor. When I turn it on the Screen lights up for a sec and then turns off. When the screen does light up the image that is displayed is the image that is supposed to be there. I have tried it on two different computers (one with XP and the other with Vista.) Same issue on both Computers. I have opened the case up and haven't seen any obviously bad Capacitors (no bulges, or leaking Caps). Any suggestions?

First of all disconnect the power & unplug the video cable from the back of the CPU & Monitor. Power-on the monitor & wait 10 secs. If the Monitor is functioning correctly, a 'No Signal' message appears & sometimes keeps bouncing around like a screen saver motion. This means your monitor is OK, if no signal message is not showing then either backlight or inverter(power) input has gone KAPUT. Replacing either or both may not turn out to be a cost effective soln. However if the damage is only in the cable then simply replace it or use the HDMI port..........................Sodeep63
Send the monitor. It's a power supply problem. My 15.4" LCD has the problem, too, whenever I move the monitor down, it powers off, and the menu disappears as well, but I'm going to fix the screen.
Go to device manager-> expand display adapters. Rightclick on the video adaptor and select properties. Click on driver tab and select option RollBAck driver.
It sounds like the monitor whose writing comes up in pink has a problem with the RGB usually IC driven and all of them sound like they have faulty power supply boards. Will investigate further and give a more detailed answer. Hope this helps for the time being.
