Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Aquarius WMA36 washing machine, when in wash mode it go through it's cycle until it requires a spin, the motor starts up then slows to a stop (almost as if it has tripped out eletrically) then after a few moments the door latch light goes off. At this point the machine will not operate but after about 5 minutes it can be restarted and will work until the cycle requires a spin again. I have checked the brushes and they are fine - no sign of irregular wear. Any ideas?

Check the pump, machine is probably not emptying.
From the bach remove the middle lower panel.
Pump is to the right, drain any excess water by lowering the outlet hose to the floor and syphen off the water into a bowl.
Isolate the supply.
Disconnect the plug (2wires) from the pump.
The pump has a clip at the base allowing it to be withdrawn.
Unclip the large hose from the drum and remove the pump.
Check inside the large hose for debris, check inside the pump for debris, pump is easily split if required using a TORX screw driver. refit in reverse.

I have a new hotpoint aquarius washing machine, I put it on Cycle 1, and it stops before spin and I have to manually turn dial to B. is this correct thing to happen?

Make sure that you have selected a programme that does not have a spin, or a reduced or slow spin. if it spins o/k when you select 8, then it cannot be motor problem

I have a Hotpoint WMA36 washing machine that the drum won't spin during the cycle. Even when I put it on spin only it does'nt move, do the brushes need replacing

quite possibly. the only way to check is to check continuity across the brushes or if you don't have a multimeter, take the brushes out and examine. brushes are held in by two screws each. it is a bit arkward with the motor in situ so you may find it easier to take the motor out

Motor will not start in slow agitate

I rewound electric motors in the past, in your case i don't know if its a armature motor it would have brushs. if it was if its without brushs, it would have two septrate windings one for spin, one for wash. the wash windings could be 'faulty',answer! try other motor! if you get one. let me know which motor it is Ire,Close. bye for now

Hi, Does the drum turn during the wash cycle? When it comes to the spin cycle does it go through to the end without the drum turning? It sounds like it could be the motor needs new carbon brushes. Regards, Tom.
