My HLP5085W stopped working. THe tv would try to

My HLP5085W stopped working. THe tv would try to power up but it would just cycle through the LEDs (no happy face) and eventually a light bulb error. I replaced the lamp and ballast....still no change. What do I do next?

    Even when I manually hold the blue switch down it doesn;t seem to help

    By the blue switch I assume that you mean the lamp door switch? If so then use a DMM on resistance to check continuity. You should have an infinite reading first, then push the switch and you should have no resistance. If this checks out then I would look at the Low Voltage power supply for problems. The bucket interlock may be defective. It works correctly to signal when the bucket is removed but doesn't signal the power switch that the bucket is in place.

Check the wiring harness, connections, contacts, etc. Look for some corrosion and loose connections. Also, check the water inlet for anything that may cause a reduction in water flow.

My AEG T37400 lavatherm standanlone tumble dryer works for a turns of the drum then stops.


Alarm conditions during operation of the dryer

The LEDs begin to flash if one of the following malfunctions occurs:
  • NTC open (the LEDs flash in sequence from right to left)
  • NTC short-circuited (the LEDs flash in sequence from right to left)
  • If the START button is pressed for more than 20 seconds while a cycle is in operation all the LEDs flash.

The back closes on it and shoves it forward. It prevents the lamp and set from working with rear cover removed.

Samsung HLP5085W DLP - lamp replaced about 7 months ago. I powered up TV and got strange colors with flickering picture. Turned unit off and triangle symbol appears with lamp showing - needs replacement....


Strange colors and flickering picture symptom shows problem with color wheel and/or dmd board.
Lamp is only light source in dlp tv and it has nothing with colors or picture flicker.
TV goes to protection mode because of some internal problem as mentioned above.
If you wish to repair tv by yourself then you should have service manual copy in hand and that can be downloaded from HERE for small fee.

Here's something to try, it's actually the drum reset and if it's the drum that needs replacing then this will get you going again. Just remember that if you reset this that eventually the drum will start having quality issues because you will be using it past its end of life cycle getting more use out of it then normal and it won't hurt the machine either... hope this helps and if so, please mark Fixya

1) Turn off the power using the switch on the back of the printer. Open the front door of the printer.

2) Hold Continue button down, power on the printer, and continue to holding Continue down until the LEDs begin to flash. When the LEDs start to flash, release Continue button. The LEDs will continue flashing until only Error LED will be lit.

3) Close the front door. Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load Paper LEDs should be lit.

4) Wait till the printer completes the POST process. POST is complete when fan noise and rollers stop. After POST wait for 5 seconds

5) Press Cancel button 4 times slowly until the Toner Low LED is lit. This is the procedure resetting the counter.

6) Press and hold Continue until all LEDs begin to cycle in sequence, then release Continue. Now only the Toner Low LED will be lit.

7) Cycle the power of the printer (turn it off and then back on).

Yes. This is a good set. Picture is good. But keep in mind that Samsung no longer makes this set and stopped making DLP tv"s. Parts are dwindling.

This should fix the drum light being on that 1720

Try these.

Reset the Photoconductor Drum Counter

Continue button. The LEDs will continue flashing until only Error LED will be lit.
4. Close the front door. Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load Paper LEDs should be lit.
5. Wait till the printer completes the POST process.
POST is complete when fan noise and rollers stops.
After POST wait for 5 seconds

6. Press Cancel button 4 times slowly until the Toner Low LED is lit.
This is the procedure resetting the counter.

7. Press and hold Continue until all LEDs begin to cycle in sequence, then release Continue.
Now only the
Toner Low LED will be lit.
8. Cycle the power of the printer.


- Remove the power cable

- Wait for 5 seconds

- Plug the power cable back to the printer

- Power the Printer on
