Hello, if you get a sign on your desktop saying that the usb device is not recognised then there are few possible reasons

1. mp3 player is broken
2. your usb system needs to be reinitialized
To reinitialize your computers usb ports.
on desktop, right click on my computer and select manage, then
computer management window opens, on the left side
click on device manager

in the device manager click on the Universal Serial Bus controllers

Then I want you to uninstall all devices you see in there
by rightclicking and selecting uninstall, your keyboard / mouse might stop working if you are useing usb. so if you have a old ps2 connector mouse use that.

Ones all the devices are uninstalled you need to restart the pc.

ones the pc is restarted windows will begin to reinstall the usb ports, make sure the player is unpluged now.

After all the usb ports have been reinstalled and working, plug in the player agian to see if it works.

try another usb port if the same problem persists.
if the problem doesnt get fixed by this then there is a fault in the mp3 player.

you can try the mp3 player in another pc if the same problem happens there also, the mp3 player is the cause.

if you have warranty you can get your device repaired or replaced for free, contact your dealer.

First disconnect PC from power cable for 10 minutes (unplug).Disconnect player from USB. reinstall player software. Then connect back player, it should work.

This is also sometimes due to electrostatic charges creating problems on usb channels (you get device not recognised even when you do not need additional driver). As I told you disconnect completely power cable from power and device from usb for 20/30 mins or so. did you do this?
If the above did not work, then inf file (which is a text file) is corrupted, then in theory you need to reinstall windows as upgrade install, on top of existing one.
If it is only the inf file that is bad you can copy and paste it from a different computer, as it does not need to be registered in system, as many DLLs etc.. It is located in a protected system folder.
Typically his pat is C:\windows\inf\. The folder is tagged as protected and system, therefore you will need to change folder options or to type explicitly address in address bar to view it.
If you cannot sort it out with the above, you will need to reinstall windows.

My Samsung YP-S2 Mp3 player can't be recognised by computers when I plug it in through the usb input (it used to work), therefore I'm not able to upload music on it anymore. How can I fix this bug?

Samsung Player Is No Longer Detected By Windows XP, Vista, Emodio Or
Samsung Media Studio.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your computer doesn't recognize your Samsung MP3 player, programs
such as Samsung Media Studio (SMS), Emodio, Windows Media Player
(10 or 11) do not allow you to transfer files to your player.
In SMS and Emodio, the portable icon appears grayed out.
In Windows Media Player, you are prompted to connect a device.
Your PC may fail to recognize your player for a variety of reasons.
To begin troubleshooting, scroll down, and then click the operating
system your computer is currently running.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Operating System Information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Windows computers, Samsung MP3 players require at least Windows XP
Service Pack 2. If you have an older operating system such as Windows
2000 or Windows 98, your computer won't recognize your player until you
upgrade your PC to at least Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If your PC is running Linux or MAC, it will not recognize some MP3
players that support only MTP mode. However, it will recognize players
that support UMS mode and list them as mass storage devices.
The following Samsung MP3 players support UMS: YP-U1, YP-U2, YP-U3,
YP-U4, YP-U5, and YP-S2.
The following Samsung MP3 players support both MTP and UMS mode: YP-Z5
and YP-P3.
Windows Vista may fail to detect you device if the player is not
connected properly, Windows Media Player is not installed or has become
corrupted, Vista is unable to install the MTP drivers, or the MTP patch
is not installed.
You can check it out further by going to this website and entering the information about your player

Try installing the Samsung Media package supplied with the player. Then restart your PC - all programs should then recognise the YP-Z5
