The unit *always* uses "2 minute off" intervals *unless* the
room humidity is 15% or more below the target setting. If the room humidity
is, say, 6% or more below the target setting, then the unit will cycle on
and off, with the OFF intervals always being exactly 2 minutes.
the minimum "on interval" is also 2 minutes, then it seems
that, if the room humidity were substantially below target (say, 10% or
more, but less than 15% below target), then unit will eventually reach a
point where it will cycle on for 2 minutes on and then off for 2 minutes.
But if this was not happening before and just now started then its the problem of over-frost build up on coils of the humidifier it has to be cleaned from the coils by unplugging the unit from electric outlet. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Why does the fan run non stop? the compressor runs and shuts off but the fan just runs on high and low. I have 3 other dehumidifiers that the fan runs only when the compressor runs...why doesnt the...

Depending on the time sequence you have this unit set to run, Fredrich's are designed so that the fan runs almost constantly, to keep the air moving. When it senses a rise in humidity above the level you have it set on, the compressor turns ON and runs until the level of humidity is lowered. This is especially true, if you are operating this unit in continual mode.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumidifier has shut down

The GFCI outlet needed to be reset. There was no problem with the dehumidifier itself.

What you think it means is exactly what it does mean. When a running unit is shut off it should not be restarted until the system pressures have had time to balance out so the compressor can restart without difficulty.

Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.

Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.
