Device Properties won't help you in this case. There is a connect button on your USB receiver and the mouse itself. Press the Connect button on the receiver, then press it on your mouse. It should make it stop moving randomly.

I have a gear head mouse, it's a lighted optical mouse model no OM3500U and I can't figure out how to change the batteries to see if that is the problem with it. It won't work at all and it...

There are no batteries in this mouse as it is a wired mouse. Wireless mice require batteries, not wired.Try removing the mouse from the USB port it is in and move it to another available port. It should work right away (after it detects the new device)but you may need to restart the computer after you move it to the new USB port. If that does not work, than it died.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Mouse cursor will not function. Was working earlier today, did re-boot computer 7 times/change battery/etc. Seems to have lost pathway? Keyboard still functions

Check that it still has a good solid connection to the computer. If you are using a optical mouse, make sure the light is on. For a rolling ball, make sure the ball is in the mouse properly and that there is nothing inside to make it stick. Other than that, you may need a new mouse.

Microsoft 4000 optical mouse

Try this - Go to control panel > mouse > hardware tab > properties > power management tab
Make sure the entry "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked.

If you meant that your screen saver doesnt come on because the mouse is plugged in, it could be because the surface on which your mouse is rested is uneven or extremely smooth, causing the mouse to move, or that the mouse sensitivity properties are set very high. When not in use, try placing the mouse on a piece of dark cloth and see if this helps. Or in the steps mentioned above, make sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is UNchecked. Note that you cannot use the mouse to get out of screen saver mode in this option. you will have to tap the spacebar..

Let me know how it goes.

Wireless mouse issues help

This information is straight off of Logitech's help forum. To change the channel a mouse is using, simply press the connect button on the receiver and then press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. You can check the channel status in the MouseWare Properties under the Cordless Tab. You may also try to keep the distance between systems at least 10 feet or more. Moving the mouse closer to or further away from the receiver can also improve transmission and performance. If the above fails, try pressing and holding the "Connect" button on the receiver for 10 seconds. This will reset the receiver's connection information and allow you to do a first time connection with the receiver and mouse. After holding the Connect button for 10 seconds, press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse to synchronize it with the receiver. Good Luck.
