You have to pull straight upwards on the agitator. They are on that drive bell very securely so you'll have to pull like a madman. I have heard of some technicians using a belt or strap slid under the agitator to get it to pop free. But I just remove them by slipping my fingertips under it on opposite sides and yanking it upwards.

The gears in top are stripped out need replacing, take cap off agitator and take out bolt pull agitator out ..pull top part agitator off and replace gears
