Go to START , click CONTROL PANEL , click SOUNDS , SPEECH , and AUDIO DEVICES , check on your left corner , it says TROUBLESHOOTERS, click where it says SOUND ?, and follow it from there , you should be able to connect the sound back . good luck

I upgraded Windows 8.0 to 8.1 and now my speakers won't work. The computer sound is normal (lousy) but the speakers nada.

The most common issue with sound that worked previously, after an upgrade is either the drivers, or the settings for the drivers. Usually we end up uninstalling any software in "Programs and Features", "uninstall or change a program" that relates to the sound card. If there is none, next go to device manager and uninstall the driver from there, restart and let windows put it back. I'm curious by 'the computer sound is normal' what are you hearing that through if not the speakers? In this case it sounds like the 'settings' under volume control, or control panel, sound, are set to digital, and your speakers are analog. If you have more than one item in here, one is likely digital, ensure it's not enabled. Finally if there is a problem with the driver, it will show you an error, instead of a sound icon. Reinstall the driver. If you have an OEM PC, like dell, gateway, etc, the drivers you require should be on their homepages, it's helpful to know your pc's model #.

Last night, 4-24-20ll (in the middle of the night) I was watching a video and suddenly there was a crackling noise like static. Then the sound disappeared completely and never came back.

I think a harsh sound damaged the speaker. This is usually caused by software signed to enhance audio performance, such as VLC (which has high sound volume), Breakaway (a so sound-enhancing software, etc. First of all, try uninstalling such programs, or if you have not installed such programs, try restarting your computer several times. Secondly, test other speakers (external) with your computer to see if the problem is from your previous speakers. Hope this helped.

Speakers are not working. How do I check to see if the problem is in the speakers or sound board? My head phones do work. Thanks: D J Hoff

you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the driver and the sound devices
control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound, could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers or right click select properties to either troubleshoot, uninstall, rollback driver

hope this helps

REALTEK REMOVED MY WINDOWS SOUNDS!!

Solution:

best sol: go to start button ----->click RUN----->Type devmgmt.msc in Text Box ----->

Device Manager windows appears , click on Sound, video and game controllers(+),
if you see "Realtek AC97 drivers"(if they are visible...) then we can make sure that sound                     drivers are loaded in ur system, otherwise you have load it again.....

                                                          or

i) my best advice would be, dont mess up with installing, reinstalling, uninstalling sound drivers rather try   to format or reload your OS again(Windows XP) and then install drivers.

ii)  try to check volume on your speakers, volume in windows or system , volume in media players sometimes they may set to mute of no volume.......

iii) try to check all sound physcial connection that run from your computer to speakers, including power connections, cable connection ....or just remove and replace them(reseating...)

iv) try connecting a headset to your sound port, sometimes your subwoofers or speakers may fail.....

Thanking You

No sound on my toshiba satellite laptop

Have you done re-installation of window?

Do you have the motherboard Cd with you? Since audio driver can be easily install from there.

Otherwise google for the audio driver for your Laptop and select the appropriate one.

Let me know if bit more detail if you need further assistance.

Hi my pc isnt playing any sound, iv gone into the control panel and its showing me there isnt a sound driver applied to my computer when iv tried to apply one it wont let me, does this mean my sound card...

-Maybe one of the cause that you can't install the sound driver is because there is a sound driver currently installed on the system that is corrupted .
-Try to uninstall first under device manager and reboot system then reinstall the sound driver.
-After this steps you still can't install the driver, check if the current sound driver that you are trying to install is compatible driver for your system.
-Check manufacturer website for system specification.
