Question about Airnet AWD154 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Have upgraded to windows 7 and the airnet awd154 x64 drivers. The card works however the max transfer speed I can get is 18 mbs. I have configured the driver adhoc mode to g and changed the default adhoc to 11g yet it still only gives me 18mbs transfer rate

SOURCE: AWN154's driver for Windows XP

the driver from aziocorp DOES NOT WORK!

I spent a few days looking for it myself, and uploaded it to share with anyone that may need it. This driver does work.

Have you ever booted in win7? It may be a win 7 issue not a memory issue. Does it boot with the 2 512 MBs of memory. unplug, remove battery, install the 512 MBs memory, reboot.

FTP Connection using Windows 7 64 bit

Individual applications that transfer files using FTP may have their own methods for monitoring transfer speed. But for a single method that works across all applications, consider an external bandwidth monitor. Windows no longer tracks bandwidth usage, but several free third-party tools display your upload and download speed. Close other Internet programs besides your FTP transfer tool, and check the bandwidth monitor to determine your transfer rate.

Net Speed Monitor
If your computer uses the 32-bit version of Windows 7, download Net Speed Monitor 2.5.4.0 for Windows. If your computer instead uses the 64-bit Windows 7 version, download Net Speed Monitor 2.5.4.0 for Windows (msi, x64). (See Link Below.) http://www.floriangilles.com/software/netspeedmonitor/download/ Run the installation program. The license agreement will open. Accept the agreement. Click "Next." Further options will open. Click "Next." Click "Install." A dialog box will ask whether you want your task bar to display the "NetSpeedMonitor toolbar." Click "Yes." Another dialog box will open. Click "Save." Run your FTP transfer. Check the transfer rate from the task bar. Bandwidth Meter b> Download the Bandwidth Meter installation program. (See Link Below.) http://www.bandwidth-meter.net/freedown.htm Run the program. Click "Next" through the options. Choose "Install" when the final step prompts you to. Run your FTP transfer. Check the transfer rate from the task bar. Hope this helps.

D80 High Speed Continuous Shooting Doesn't Work

I assume that your camera will shoot in continuous mode, but only slowly. The two main reason for this is memory buffer overload due to your memory card not being able to accept data quickly enough or insufficient battery power. When you have a slow memory card, the buffer circuit in your camera retains data until the card accepts it, but if so much data comes in so quickly that it exceeds the buffer's capacity, the camera will slow down until enough buffer space becomes available to accept more data. For example, when I first got my D90 (I use a D800 now), I tried to take video and the picture and sound would not stay in sync. with the 35 Mbs cards that were the fastest available at that time. When Sandisk developed a 45 Mbs card, I no longer had the problem. High speed cards are now available at 60 Mbs, 90 Mbs 120 Mbs and faster and those speeds will allow data to transfer from your camera's buffer so quickly that the buffer will never fill up and your camera will not slow down.

Slow speed tests

Your HP G60 has an 802.11 b/g card. 802.11g has a maximum rated speed of 54 mbps, like the router. You never get the actual "rated" speed with wireless cards, this would occur only with maximum signal strength, no network protocol overhead, no security, etc. if you were to replace your current card in the Satellite with an 802.11 b/g card, you would get comparable results.
