Hello,

If the unit is running continuously and not maintaining the temperature cold enough the system may have a leak. If it is NOT running continuously the problem could be in the temperature control. Freezer is running but not freezing at all. This is most commonly a system problem, compressor, system leak. If your freezer is not freezing at all and is dispersing water in several places, you may well have a thermostat failure. Check that your freezer is cycling correctly prior to making changes or altering the thermostat. Only if the freezer is not cycling are you likely to need to change the thermostat.

Take care.

I was told by another to clean the coils on the system. Is that something to check. Will it help to provide model and serial number to accurately tell me what to do

    Hello,

You can check the coil beneath the chest freezer to see if the coil is not clog with dust, get air pressure pump to vacuum the coil to see if there will be difference on the unit but if none, check my previous mail to see the listed problem that may cause the problem.

    Take care

Where are these parts located. How much for a thermostat. It has no leaks whatsoever.

  • Sulaimon Jimoh Olayemi Jul 09, 2010

    Hello,

The coil to the device is at the bottom of the freezer, check the two bottom sides of the freezer or many atimes, it is always beneath back of the freezer.

The thermostat is between $5-$10 but less than $15.

    Take care.

We just bought a chest freezer and the suction is so tight can't open the lid .What do we need to do.

Most likely it isn't the suction but moisture on your seal freezing to the frame. Suggest a putty knife with a hair dryer blowing hot air on the blade and working it around the seal.

Chest Freezer not freezing

check the temp dial. and set to a lower temp. *be mindful of the surrounding temp of the freezer. it will not work properly if it is in 125 degree surrounding air. * check the coils on the freezer and make sure that they are clean. this allows for proper heat transfer from the inside of the box to the outside air. also check to see if the blower is running. * Check to see if there are signs of oil around the freezer, if so contact a service tech

Used frigidaire

look around the back of the freeze and at the bottom you will see a small black compressor .Put your hand on it and if it is running you will feel it vibrating. If it vibrating but running very hot them it means you have no gas in the system so the freezer won't freeze. If the compressor is cold and not running then it could be eaither the relay on the compressor or the board on the front either way you will need to get an engineer in
