After all this time, I hope that this has been resolved!!! But if it has not, or you have some other questions, here are some steps to follow. Follow the link below, and you will find instructions on how to program that remote to the receiver. These are the steps that will work for all DISH remotes, so you can use them in the future too!!! And of course, you will want to make sure that you are in front of the receiver when programming!!!!

Dish network remote only works up close. Dish network remote 20.0IR only works for the reciever at about 1 inch from the reciever. Works fine and from any distance for the tv, stereo reciever, and blu ray...

Hey Brandon Kinsley,

It does sound like there is an interference issue with the remote control. Make sure there are no sources of heat or light near the receiver, and that it has a clear line of sight. Other possibilities for interference could be equipment or some LCD TV's have been known to cause interference.

If you continue experiencing any difficulties let me know here and I would be happy to try other steps with you, or see about getting the right remote out so you can make the TV1 a UHF signal to bypass that interference.

Is this a new remote or the existing one? I have provided instructions on how to program the remote to your TV and to readdress the remote to your receiver. Select the model of the receiver you have, click on the link and the just follow the directions. The bottom portion of the page has links for TV codes to program the remote to your TV. If this doesn't work, you may need a new remote. I hope this helps.

Hi, I bought a lg plasma tv model 55LD520, and now my dish network remote won't work unless I'm literally 2 inches from the reciever. What can I do? Please help

I had the same issue with the 55LD520 and my Dish 722 receiver.
Check out this link for some suggestions:

Putting black tape over the receiver IR sensor seems to be working for me.

Can't use remote to change dish channels batteries are working fine

Hello my name is Michael Hurst with DISH Network. Sounds like your remote may need to be reprogrammed to the DISH receiver. You can press the Menu button on the receiver and that will get you to the System Info screen. Once you have this screen then press and hold Sat button until all the buttons on top of the remote flash red. Let go of the Sat button and pick a number between 1-15. Once the number is selected then press # and then Record. Watch the remote code number on the System Info screen. If this doesn't work then unplug the reciever from power outlet for 10 seconds and perform the step again.

My new dish net remote will not work on my 3100 reciever. Any ideas?

I would be happy to help with that!

Whenever having a remote issue it's always best to post the model number of the remote in question, this can be found on the back of the remote. Usually issues with the remote are quickly fixed by readdressing it. Start by pressing the menu button, this can be found on the top left of the DISH Network remote, then press the numbers 6-1-3. We should not be on the system information screen, once there press the record button on the remote 3 times then use the remote to exit the menu.

If this doesn't fix the issue please visit: http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-control for additional trouble shooting.

Dish network remote to run RCA DVD player

I had rca remote that did not recieve ir signals but rf signals instead. Check online with rca or in owners manual for what type of signal factory remote sends. The dvd player I had was 5 dvd and that was the case. Dish might have an option like direct tv where you can program rf signals as well. Call dish network support or look online
