Question about Garden

I have a Huskavarna Mondo String trimmer. I have adjusted the Carburetor according to the shop manual and still it has no extended power to cut down weeds. As soon as I start cutting the weeds it bogs down and eventually dies. I have tried moving the High and Low adjustment on the Carb jets but nothing seems to help. I am slightly suspect of the real small tubes that go from the carb to the fuel tank (of a hole in the line) sucking air and weakening the high end RPM's

Hi! Just like cars, you may have a vacuum leak. This leak comes from worn vacuum hoses. If you can feel that theres air coming out from the tiny hoses which is almost invisible till you feel that theres air coming out you will have to replace it. This hoses can be both on auto parts supply, also known as carburetor hose or vacuum hose. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Adjust or bend the governor a bit so you get higher rpms. Then sharpen the heck out of the blades and you will be good to go.

Blades on a string trimmer? Think again.........
This is a gas/oil mix small engine that has a high and low jet adjustment. Manual says close all the way and open them one turn. The H adjustment controls the high RPM speed. Adjustment seems to have no effect on it. Manual says it should run about 9,000 RPM and 7800 is about the best I can get it to run.

Oh sorry, I was thinking this was for a mower. If it's a weed trimmer, and it gets boggy, you basically have to pull the carb off, pull it apart, deep clean all the parts and replace the needle and seat.

Murray string trimmer, carburator out of adjustment. How do I adjust carburetor?I know where the adjustment screw is.

with epa like it is now days you will have to take it to a shop. if it has the screws you may be able to get a fine needle nose in there but more than likely a shop will have to do this for you. i don't and most shops wont charge to adjust the carb if that's all it is.

What do i need for replacement string? Can i go heavier or stay with the smaller string? This is for mastercraft 20v grass trimmer. thanks

the size of the string is critical in electric driven trimmers
it does have mass and the thicker string will over load the motor
stay with the recommended string size and keep to the recommended distance to the grass being cut
string line cutters work on the principle that the tip speed of the string is what does the cutting and that means that the first 1/2" of string cuts the grass
the rest back to the hub acts like a brake as it is dragged across the grass and slows the cutting speed and loads the motor
remember that the machine is designed to trim edges and not to cut down growth-- that is a job for heavier duty units

Will idle but stalls on acceleration

to much air getting through
being careful not to over tighten or you will crack your inlet manifold
solution: tighten down your carburetor and tune up your carburetor
adjust the outside screw first that is your throttle screw
then once a full revs adjust the inside screw to where you want the max revs to be

For all others with String trimmers, blowers and other 2 stroke style engines...
If no power on high, tends to bog, won't run once choke off, check these:
  • Fuel Filter - It's IN the Gas tank; Just replace it
  • Spark Arrestor at Muffler, it's a screen that tends to clog up and causes very restricted exhaust flow
  • Spark Plug - again just replace it
  • Carburetor, clean or install rebuild kit
  • And adjust sorta hidden High/Low carburetor adjustment screws
Take a look here...

And here:

I cannot get more line out of my toro 15" electric trimmer. It cannot be empty, it has only been used once. The cutting line will not extend out any more. Should it not?

Sometimes the line can become fused together.remove the spindle and manually pull the line. Replace and the tap and feed should work fine.

My Husqvarna 128ld trimmer will run but only at low rpm. I cant find a tool to adjust the carb. If I choke it 1/2 it will run at higher rpm, I suspect a fuel problem. It started in an instant.

If it is a newer trimmer it has a little plastic deal on the adjustment screws to prevent adjusttment.(epa). You have to break that off then a screw driver will work. Some are tough, turn hi speed screw counter clockwise it will rev

No Owner's Manual Came with My P2500, 17" Gas String Trimmer

Hello, It would appear that manuals were not included in this model :) Here is the link you have requested. The page should show four choices for download by year of manufacture - click accordingly. If the selection does not show and the search parameters are blank, simply type P2500 into the "Type your search query (i.e. product name)" box and you will get the same results.

Hope this helps!

String breaking

Check to ensure that the string is the correct size as specified in the owners manual. If ok check age of the string. If old it has a tendancy to be brittle. If new and supple try letting the trimmer get up to full speed and let the tip of the string do the cutting. Avoid taking on too much at once with this trimmer as the electric and battery trimmers are not as powerful as their gas counterparts. I hope this helps.
