Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others

Model ES2205: With Screen and head attached, cutter will not oscillate. Remove the head and the cutter works fine. The cutters in the head are free to move back and forth when the head is not in place on the razor. The battery was allowed to charge fully. Frustrated, Dale Buchanan

Since the cutters will move when the head is not attached, and won't when the head is attached, should indicate that the head either has an object preventing the head from moving.

1. Look carefully at the inside of the head to see if there is any foreign objects or screen damage that might prevent the cutters from moving back and forth.
2. Also examine the cutting blades for any objects or damage. Or try washing off both the head and cutters the head with water and see if that flushes out any objects that might stop the cutters from moving.

Thats about all I can think of that would be a problem. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more additional help. Thanks

I performed the "Wash it out" test but still no workie. The arms that drive the two trimmer cutters work and the cutters are free to move when pressed with a finger tip. I took the screen out and checked it for rough spots and it was very smooth. When I put it back I noticed that there are two little arms that stick up on opposite sides of the the screen. Is it important whether of not they are left or right when replaced?
    Still trying, Dale Buchanan

There should be some plastic protruding below the screen, but they should not stick out more than 1/16 of an inch. If they are any longer, they might keep the cutters from moving.

Is this a new razor? Has it ever worked before? If it is new, then I would take it back and get your money back.

I took my wife's razor appart and looking at the manual and I just can't see anything else that could be blocking the travel of the cutters. You could try reversing the screen, I tried it with my wife's and it did not make a difference, but maybe it does with yours.

I wish I had something else to suggest to you. I know how fustrating these things can be when they don't work.

I was reading the manual, and it talks about the replacing the outer foil. Maybe the problem is that the outer foil is not seated properly inside the head. See if it can be pushed farther up into the head and maybe that might fix it. Likewise if you have replaced the cutters, see if they are seated properly into the shaver.

How do you change the cutter bar bearings on a delta 12 inch planer

You are looking at a major disassembly to get at the cutter head bearings, everything is built around the cutter head. The motor drives the cutter head on one end of it and the cutter head drives the rollers at the other end. Most of the components have to be removed to get the cutter head and it's bearings out. You can go to www.ereplacementparts.com and do a search on your model number for a good breakdown of your planner and see what you need to remove to get at the cutter head and it's bearings.

I can't figure out what is wrong. When I try to use the razor the cutter seems frozen and doesnt move side to side. When I take off the foil I see that the cutter seems to move perfectly fine. I then...

If you are having the same problem with both your old and new foils and cutters it sounds like there is a problem with the oscillator in the swivel frame. Sometimes the plastic oscillator inside will partially break and it can not vibrate under the load of the foil and cutters.
This swivel frame is part of the 'drive unit' and can be found available at shaveroutlet.com. See link below for item and scroll down the item page for installation video

The symptoms you describe indicate that the 'drive unit' is the problem. This part includes the swivel frame that the foils and cutters fit onto as well as the motor. Sometimes a piece of the plastic oscillator inside will break. The vibration causes the loud noise and it can not oscillate properly because of the break.
You will find the part needed at shaveroutlet.com. See link below for this part and scroll down the screen for helpful installation video

How do i change the blades

Disconnect the planer's power cord, then use the T-wrench that comes with the planer to remove the four screws that secure the top of the planer. Lift the top to remove it from the planer.
Remove the three wing nuts holding the dust cover over the cutter head. Rotate the dust cover up to unlock it from the fan housing, then push the cover to the left to disconnect it. Remove the dust cover from the planer to expose the cutter head.
Rotate the cutter head with a piece of scrap wood until the lock on the side of the cutter head engages. All eight screws in the cutter head clamp should now be visible. Remove the screws using the T-wrench, then turn the T-wrench upside down and use the magnet in the head of the T-wrench to grab the clamp. Remove the clamp to expose the knife underneath. Use the magnet to remove the knife.

Shaver started making a much louder buzzing sound, no longer shaves as well and now hurts a bit to use. Can this be fixed?

Hello Robert, It sounds like the foil screen might have been damaged and is causing poor shaving performance. Typically, a screen will get small holes or tears in it after providing good service for some years, however, these very thin screen foils, can get damaged other ways too.

The best way to restore the best shaving performance is to replace both the foil screen AND the cutter head block (cutter head) as it could be possible that the cutter blades have become damaged or nicked and have caused the foil screen to become damaged, as a result.

I would contact www.electricshaver.com and see if you can purchase a new set of the cutter block head and the screen foil for your particular Braun shaver model. As the Braun 360 is a tradename used on a couple of different model numbers, you really need the four (4) digit model number in order to locate the correct replacement parts.

Here's a link to their page with the various Braun replacement cutter blocks and foil screens. You might find your model number amoung them, otherwise, you can also give them a call at 1-888-476-1785 and ask them to assist you with selecting the proper replacement parts.

http://www.electricshaverstore.com/get_list_125.htm

As you are no doubt aware, replacing the cutter head and foil screen is the best and simplest way to restore an electric shaver to a like new shaving condition and much less expensive than replacing the entire shaver.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Remington M8221 Help

STEPS

• Thoroughly clean the razor cutter area
• Pull off (straight out) cutters and lay aside
• Release spring clips and remove
• Gently pry up and remove rubber boot
• Pry case open starting at cutter end and bending up toward connector end
• Thoroughly clean razor interior area (blow out)
• Pull up motor and remove black oscillator bars
• Pry up the circuit board by releasing the cutter-end catch using a small tool to push it in while prying gently up on the cutter-end of the board and bending up
• Clean the board and turn it over
• Note battery polarity and mark on board if not present already
• Unsolder the battery tabs using unsolder braid. Be careful not to short the electrical circuitry as the batteries are electrically LIVE at this point.
• Remove the old batteries and fully clean off the circuit board solder-pads using unsolder braid.
• Mark the installation date on the new batteries in a place where it will be visible
• Install new batteries, making sure the polarity is correct (cut the tabs to a correct length if they extend too far through the circuit board)
• Solder the battery tabs being careful not to short the electrical circuitry as the batteries are electrically LIVE at this point
• Re-install the circuit board and other parts following the procedure in the reverse order (be sure to put a soft rubber pad over the motor to hold it firmly in place when the upper case half is snapped in place)
• Before installing the metal retaining clips be sure that the rubber boot is fully free and not pinched between the case halves
• Finalize the assembly by reinstalling the cutters and screen
