Having serious problem with the ignite. When I turn it on and its lit the clicking of the spark does not stop. Also, one of ranges will not light at all! Help.

Their are 2 possible reasons the igniters would continue to click after the burner is lit.

1) the burner is slightly dirty and the part of it very near the electrode is not burning correctly so the igniter doesn't think the burner is lit so it will not tell the spark to turn off. It could be cleaned by using steel wool and cleaning the burner holes near where the electrode is and then use a paper clip and poke through the holes on the burner to clear them so they burn correctly.

2) the electrode (the spark plug at the burner) is cracked so even though the burner is lit so the electrode can not sense that the burner is lit and wont tell the spark to turn off,so if having cleaned burner it still clicks after burner is lit the electrodes would need to be replaced.

Anytime you turn on a gas range all burners click for safety reasons. If a knob has been turned by mistake the gas lights to prevent gas from escaping into the room. If you turn the control knob past the LITE position after the burner lights you should be OK and stop the clicking. If the clicking continues regardless you have a defective ignitor switch that must be replaced.

Electric Ignition (sparking clicking noise when control knob is turned to "light" setting) do not have pilots. The spark ignites the gas.

this one is hands on fix,many times the spark ignition the one that makes the clicking noise is clicking on a different position,so you most look inside the oven to see the spark, you can see it better at night or when is dark to see the spark, that spark is right at the tip of the oven pilot, make sure you see the spark lighting the pilot.as long as the pilot does not ignite.the clicking sounds continues making the noise. if the pilot lights the noise will stop, if the oven burner does not light after pilot is being for about 1 minute and a half the safety valve needs replacing

The switch sounds like it is bad. It has ; off, lowest setting going up to highest, then light, that's what makes the spark or clicking, right. Is this the top burners and do they all do this? If the ignite module runs too long it could over heat and burn out. But if they are all doing this you have a problem with it or the relay anyway.

You say you have no sparks coming from your gas range, but your rear burner is lighting. That doesn't quite make sense. If some of your burners are lighting, then the problem can't be with the spark module. The spark module sends a spark to ALL the igniters at the same time. That is, EACH burner switch, when turned to ignite, will cause a spark to go to ALL the burner igniters at the same time. Just watch the next time you turn one of your burner switches on, and you'll see a spark at all the burners simultaneously. This is normal. I suspect that you have a bad igniter switch or wiring harness. For example, if you have a front burner that won't light, but WILL light when you turn on another burner, the spark is being provided by a working burner switch. This is also normal. Now, am I assuming that your back burner will not light properly, but will light if you use the front burner? If so, the burner switch for the rear burner is probably bad, or the wiring harness has a break somewhere. Now...if you have no sparks, as you say, but randomly a burner will light, then I would suspect a bad spark module. I hope I'm not confusing you here. In a nutshell: One burner doesn't work, but all others do - bad burner switch, or wiring harness. No burners light, or light randomly - spark module. I hope this helps you.

Most problems with gas ranges have to do with the flame--either it isn't quite right or it's nonexistent. Most new gas ranges have "electronic ignition," a spark igniter that starts the flame as gas flows through the burners. If, when you turn on a burner, it fails to spark but you hear sparking at other burners, the igniter or the burner switch probably needs replacement by an appliance repairperson. If your range has a pilot light, be sure the pilot light is lit.
