Your brush may not be seated properly and that sound is your motor protector keeping your motor from burning up.

D.C. 17 makes a loud whining noise when beater brushes are engaged. Normal sound until then. Replaced belt. Still so loud it hurts my ears!

Could be the brush roll, remove brush roll and see if noise is still there when brush roll motor is running.

Squeeling noise dyson 33

Is it when you go from carpet to floor or floor to carpet? It will make a loud noise detecting a possible suction issue. I've also had loud noises and turned over the vacuum and where the brush is, traps hair, thread, rubber bands, etc. Just take a scissor and cut it all out. Don't cut the bristles. Roll the brush as you cut and pull all the stuff wrapped around the brush. Once it is free, try it again.

Make sure bearings spin freely. If brush roll is not cleaned frequently enough hair can damage bearings or end caps. f

My brush roller stopped spinning so I had to take it off and clean out all the hair that had gotten wound around it. I replaces it and now it is make a lound noise, but only when the brush is on. Could it...

Could very well be the belt. When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The brush needs to be able to move freely around the plastic pieces. Add the WD40 and rotate the plastic pieces around the brush until they move freely. Reassemble making sure the belt is put in correctly so the brush moves in the right direction.

Carpet cleaning brush noise. When put in carpet cleaning mode, a loud noise comes from the brush bar area. We see no visible obstructions and have cleared threads and hair.

It's likely that one of the brush roll bearings has worn out. This is not uncommon. I think you'll find that you have to replace both the brush roll and the sole plate at the same time. Dyson sell them together as a kit.

Very loud click/catching noise - Dyson DC07Allergy

Take the sole plate off the brush bar (with a coin or a screw driver)compartment and check for blockages near the brush bar and make sure the brush bar spins round freely.
Its sounds like the clutch is slipping (it does this to protect it self from burning out when something is stopping the brush bar from turning)
A quick test is when in upright position turn the brush bar knob to off
(usally in drive postion) then try the user position again - the brush bar should not be turning and they should be no noise

Loud rattling noise.

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. Often when an upright is making a rattling noise it can be something caught in the roller and every time the brush turns it knocks against the body and since it turns really fast it can sound quite bad. Take the roller out and clean inside that area and see if that helps. Hope it does. Happy Vacuuming :)
