Dishwasher malfunction...control panel indicates "IE"...."inlet error"....or water fill error. Machine will not transition to wash mode as a result, even though all the test modes seem to check out ok.

  • Anonymous Jul 12, 2010

Error code IE....machine fills with water, then error code shuts machine down. Machine does not transition to wash mode, though I believe it to be filled with water. Wash mode does work as initiated during test mode procedure. Float assembly appears to function normally. I cannot figure out what is causing the error code to come on, since the water-filling function seems to be working ok.

HI. This particular unit is equipped with a defective main PCB board. The solder junction points that hold the relay for the inlet operation are poorly manufactured and soldered. In fact, the entire board is faulty(bad manufacturing). There is also a recall issued as well for the board. If possible, please post the entire model number. This will help me locate the appropriate recall information.

    I believe the model is:

LDS5811WW ( ..........which is the white version of the LDS5811 model)

I hope this is the complete model #, if not, then I will see if I can find a more complete model #.

I hope this is the solution to the problem.........I have spent more hours than I can afford already.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the model number. If this unit is still under the warranty agreement, you will be able to
have the main PCB replaced for free. Now, if the unit is four years out
of warranty; The PCB will not be covered and the board replacement cost
will be your responsibility. In any case, this board will need to be
replaced. Your original board is defective. The part number for your new replacement PCB will be 6871DD1006F. Click on the part number to purchase the PCB.

Additionally; You will need to inspect all hoses to be sure of proper flow. Make sure the hoses are not kinked an obstructed. Once you have verified proper flow; Go ahead and order the replacement board and have it installed.

Hello and thank you for your assistance with this problem. According to the manual which I downloaded from the LG website.... part number is: PWB(PCB) ASSEMBLY, MAIN 6871DD1006B. So I am wondering about your part number having an "F" at the end.

Also, I am not sure if it will be under the 4 year warranty.........I'll have to try and find that info. If it is how do I have that installed under warranty? And if it is not, is it possible for me to replace that part without too much difficulty.........is their soldering involved?

Thanks again.......I am finally hopeful I may be able to fix this problem myself.

  • Anonymous Jul 12, 2010

According to the model number you posted; The actual part number for
your main PCB is 6871DD1006F/model number LDS5811WW. I have located the entire model number. It is LDS5811WW/BB/ST. This is the reason for the part number mix up. The correct part number is 6871DD1006B, as you have stated. This is why posting the entire model number is very important.

Now, If the unit is still under warenty; Kindly, Contact your local retail outlet for warranty instruction pertaining to this specific unit. If the warranty is not viable at this time, which may be the case, You will need to contact a local service tech to install this electrical device. Soldering will not be necessary, but the door panel will need-to be disassembled from the rear to access the failed part. It is behind the power modules located in the control panel, which are mounted inside the door panel.

If you choose to repair yourself, i have located a service/repair manual that will guide you through the necessary steps to repair in house. Click here to access the repair manual for this unit.

Focus in on page 18 to help disassemble the control sector. follow the steps carefully. There are four screws holding the top control sector. Once these are removed, the control panel can be removed to expose the main PCB for extraction.

NOTE_ There are additional troubleshooting points that I would recommend to run through before purchasing the main Board. Once you have varied optimal functions at the stated points on page 25(in the IE code section on top of page 25), replace the board.

Hi,

Have you cleaned the screens at the inlet hoses...?

Very rarely is the sensor itself the problem...Check for obstruction in hoses leading to inlet valve.(ie hose filters kniked hose).. iE happens when Correct water level is not reached within 8 minutes after water is supplied or it does not reach the preset water level within 25 minutes.

Make sure your water valves are open fully. You may intermittently low water pressure in your area or home.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Water fills to appropriate level in the float assembly which is easily visible from the side when the side panel is removed. Water intake screens are clean no kinks in hose etc. Tank seems to fill to appropriate level inside the sump housing and bottom of tank.

I have checked out all the obvious , and not so obvious possibilites......nothing I have heard so far seems to help me figure out where the problem exists. I am wondering if talking to an expert on live chat would be beneficial at this point.

Why is my Aniston ARF105 front loading washing machine not filling with water and giving me a H20 warning?

There are several reasons why your washing machine may not be filling with water and displaying a H20
  1. Check the inlet hose for any kinks or blockages. If the hose is bent or clogged, it could be preventing water from flowing into the washing machine.
  2. Make sure that the water tap is turned on and that there is sufficient water pressure.
  3. Check the inlet valve filter for any debris or foreign objects that could be blocking the flow of water.
  4. Inspect the water inlet valve for any damage or malfunction. The valve may need to be replaced if it is not functioning properly.
  5. Check the control panel for any error codes or messages that may indicate the cause of the issue.

Our Hisense H12DBL Dishwasher shows error code E2 (water inlet malfunction). I've rigged the door switch to let the machine run with door open... On any program the machine drains then let's water in but...

How fast it fills with water is the issue. Check the water pressure, check for a filter screen on the fill valve and clean it, check the voltage on the fill valve electric coil, if it is low then the valve might not be opening all the way.

What does error code ie indicate?

IE error mostly means not filling completely with water or very slow fill

My fuzzy logic LG washing machine, is no longer spinning or washing the clothes its showing error

An IE error code signifies that the washing machine is filling with water slowly or not at all. This can occur when water supply taps are not fully open or the water pressure to the tap or house is too low. Other possible causes are kinked, pinched or bent water line hoses, or clogged water inlet filters.
TIP Make sure the water taps are fully open.
Make sure the hoses are not kinked or pinched. (Use caution when moving the washer.)
Clean the inlet filters.
Check another faucet in the house to make sure your household water pressure is adequate.

What fault code ie

The IE or water inlet error or fault code is to indicate that the washer is not filling with water. Check to be sure the water supply valves are open. Also, check to be sure the water supply hoses aren't kinked or clogged. Next, remove the hoses from the washing machine and run water into a bucket to test the pressure and flow of the water. If all of these check out and you have good water pressure and flow to the machine, you should replace the water inlet valve.

E1 error code on my kenwood dishwasher [kwd243a

Hi
The E1error code indicates a water inlet error.
To access test mode: press and hold Normal+Eco, and press Power. Release buttons. Then press Start(display n:01).Press Start again (display shows water level frequency-not important). Press Start again-(display n:03-motor will be running). Press Start again (display n:04-drain pump will run). Press Start again (display n:05-inlet valve will come on and machine should fill with water). You have now tested major components are working-if you keep pressing start you will scroll thru and test other functions, like heater, dispensor etc, but not needed for your fault.
If Machine didn't fill with water in test mode, you probably have a faulty inlet valve (test resistence should be approx 3.7-4 k ohm).
If inlet valve has tested OK ie machine filled with water in test mode then:
Disconnect from power.
Remove side panels (need to remove top, and bottom front panel to then be able to remove sides)
- Check no water in base of machine-water in base will indicate machine has leaked and activated the safety device which shuts off inlet valve.
- If OK, you probably have a faulty flow meter(measures water intake). Located left hand side of machine, large plastic compartment, which has a sensor at the bottom with 3 wires (red, white, black) that go up to control board. Replace entire flow meter assy-relatively inexpensive part.
- If you still have problem, then control board is faulty, it is much more likely to be flow meter .
.

Dishwasher has fault code ie

IE fault indicates water fill problem. Check inlet hose not kinked or blocked. Check no water in base activated flood switch. Otherwise, problem will be a faulty inlet valve(can test with Ohm meter), faulty flow meter (measures water intake- cannot test with meter), or faulty control board. Flow meter located on Left hand side of machine- accessed by removing side panel. It has a sensor with 3 wires(red, white, black) which goes up to control board. If inlet valve tests OK (about 4K ohms), and there is no water in base, I would try replacing flow meter assy (comes with housing and sensor complete)

I am getting an IE error on my control panel. It seems to start ok but once it starts to fill with water the IE error comes up and the machine shuts off. How can I fix this?

You do not list the manufacturer and model number, but it sounds like you own an LG dishwasher.

The IE error indicates that the water is not entering the dishwasher or it is entering too slowly / with little pressure. It is important to check the water inlet pipe (hot water connection under the sink) all the way to the dishwasher. Check for any kinks/blockages after you confirm that the valve at the sink is fully open.

Please report back here with what you find. If you still have problems, there are other things to check, including the solenoid valve just past the connection of the water inlet.
