Regular bar/chain oil available from home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. To check for proper oiling, run the saw bar tip near some cardboard for several moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!

I need a manual for a new Poulan 3.5 electric chainsaw, or, failing that, I need instructions on what kind of oil to use on it, and whether I need separate oil for the chain.

You shouldn't need any other oil than the oil to keep the chain and bar guide oiled (pressing down on the button adds more oil to the chain/bar). You can use standard Bar and Chain Oil, or probably pay a little more and use the Poulan brand oil, but in my experience, any bar oil for chainsaws will work, and the larger the container you buy, the less per ounce you will pay. Remember this is NOT an automatic oiling system, so it will be cheaper in the long run to remember to press that button than to replace the chain/saw if it overheats.

What is the gas oil mix

50:1 gas/oil mix. To mix 1 gallon of gas, you need to add 2.6 fluid ounces of two-stroke air-cooled oil to 1 gallon of gasoline. Higher octane works better and runs cleaner.

Assuming you have a CS305, here's the user's manual.

Gas oil mixture

The header says that it is an electric saw which would only require bar oil. A 2-stroke gas engine, however, does require fuel mixed with a modern saw oil at 40:1 ratio plus bar/chain oil in it's own tank as well. Always premix the fuel and oil in a separate can and shake well even before filling the saw. Hope this helps!

Sounds pretty normal to me. Every chainsaw I've ever had leaked chain oil. Unless it's a LOT of oil, it's probably normal.
