Question about Danby DPAC90061 Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Danby dpac 90061 various problems

I have had this unit for 3 years this summer. It is not cooling nearly as much as it was last summer, Also it will shut off and blow just regular air that it pulls in from the intake. I have cleaned out all the filters on the unit and still nothing seems to be working 100%. It also is no longer filling the reservoir tang, I actually have to put the attached hose which is to go outside the window (does not drain properly that way) into a big bucket in my room otherwise there seems to be dripping from the bottom of the unit.

I have misplaced my manual to see the troubleshooting section (if there is one in the back) to see if there is anything else I could possibly try to get this unit to work.

With the limited information i would suggest the following:
Check to see if the outdoor unit is running.
If the outdoor unit is running, grab the large copper line coming out of it and see if it is cool.
If the fan outside is running and the line is not cool then the compressor is not running or the system has lost its refrigerant charge.
Check these things and repost for a more complete answer.
Hope this helps.

Danby dpac 10071 air conditioner is not cooling. a red light is on next to an icon with a full cup. Does anyone know how to make it cool?

That indicates that the water collection bucket is full and needs to be drained. Once the unit is turned OFF, unplugged and drained, the unit will start up and start cooling again. The drain hole is on the rear of the unit, just above floor level. You can either drain it in a shallow sided pan capable of holding 1 quart of water. Or roll it to a floor drain or outside to drain it.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Eugene, first, let me say, yours is one of the best narratives, of what is happening with your ,that I have read in a long time. You didn't leave me guessing as to what was going on.

I believe one of the problems is that you may be operating the AC Cooling & the Dehumidifier at the same time. If this is the case, the dehumidifier is generating heat, when it's operating and the AC cooling side is working at a lower rate, because the dehumidifier is in operation. Discontinue the use of the dehumidifier on extremely hot days and use only the AC Cooling mode. The AC mode also acts somewhat as a dehumidifier. That's why draining the water tank is required for AC mode too.

I would also be prudent to check the exhaust hoses to make sure they are not clogged or have been bent out of shape. Keeping the air intake filter clean is really important, too.

Aside from the air conditioner, other things can be done to help cool the room. Close all drapes or blinds to block the sun from directly heating the room. This is especially true, if the AC unit is sitting in direct sunlight. If you have a ceiling fan, operate it it as fast as you can stand, in a Clockwise direction. This not only keeps air moving, it also helps the AC unit and creates a windchill, that fools your body into thinking it's cooler than it really is. Personally, I have been doing this for years and have saved a ton of money on electric bills during the summer.

I hope I have been able to help you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Conia air conditioner reverse cycle - not blowing cold air; checked setting its correct.. it seems to blow cool air, but house is not cold. It was working fine last summer, not sure of problem.

If you feel cool air near blower, you have to service your unit completely. Because it's giving cool but not removing heat from room due to coil and air filter blocking. Helpful?
