Question about Samsung RFG297AAWP (285 cu ft) Side by Side Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

Open Question

The vertical flap that is supposed to seal the two top doors does not feed itself along the groove. It often does not position itself to be parallel with the closed doors, so it ends up leaving an open space between the two side-by-side doors

It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

How to install spring on french door flapper/divider for Samsung RF266

On mine one end of the spring broke off in the hole on the door. It was on top of the hinge so it looked like a pivot pin. I found that this was the second hole for the spring. I pushed the end of the new spring up under the hinge and popped the broke piece of old spring out. Now I could see the 2 holes. You then need to put the spring into each hole. The hole on the flap also needs a white plastic sleeve if that is missing. that goes on the end of the spring and fits into the flap hole. Then the trick part is understanding how the spring works? If you put both ends of the spring in the holes and shut the flap, it now stays in position to close and be flipped open by the guide that swings it open to seal.

Good Luck.

When moving a whirlpool washing machine (Model AWM 1000) a large thin metal ring (spring-loaded at one end) came out. Where does it go to refit it and how do I refit it? On the machine there's a groove...

It goes to the outer lip of the door opening where the groove is to secure the door gasket. It definitely serve such purpose, not for nothing.

How do I install the compression ring into the cylinder of a sears model # 919165140?

Similar to an automotive seal, if it has a beveled edge it should down. Place the ring on the piston groove (don't worry), it should look like the ring is side by side with the piston. With that in place, roll the ring along the groove, making sure the opened end flings on top of the piston. While rolling the ring along the groove, it should end up screwing it's self into position on the piston groove. Start from the bottom grove if it has multiple scrapers.

Other way is buy a ring spreader tool and a compression tool from any auto parts store. This will come with instructions and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Rubber door seal came off along with metal ring. How do we fix it?

If you are referring to the wire hoop with a small spring, this is the front bellow clamp. The bellow is the rubber door seal. Around the perimeter of the seal where it attaches to the door frame, is a small groove in the rubber. Make sure the rubber bellow is properly seated around the door frame opening, then the wire hoop inserts into the groove in the rubber to hold the front of the bellow affixed to the door frame. Without it and the bellow will eventually come loose and the washer will leak. To reinstall, just follow these steps:

1. Make sure the bellow is firmly seated all the way around the perimeter of the door frame.

2. Begin inserting the wire hoop into the groove, starting at the twelve o' clock position.

3. Work your way around the four and eight o'clock positions. While maintaining some downward pressure to keep the hoop inserted in the groove, pull the spring apart and snap the wire hoop back in place.

A second set of hands may come in handy to hold the hoop in position to get it reseated. Make sure the wire hoop ends up at the 6 o'clock position when you are complete.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Overloading the washer with heavy items can contribute to premature wear on the bellow and can cause the clamps to come loose.

My dishwasher is leaking... I have a seal but dont know how to replace it its a maytag dishwasher

If you are talking about the seal that goes around the door, it simply inserts into a groove around the perimeter of the tub facing. Just follow these steps:

1. Remove old seal by pulling it from the groove around the perimeter of the tub facing and clean the area to ensure it is free of food debris and/or sopa deposits. This will ensure the new seal seats properly. Also clean the facing of the door interior where it meets the door seal.
2. Take the new tub seal and locate the center mark. This is usually a small paint spot or small groove. If there is no center mark on the seal, fold it in half and mark this spot with your fingers.
3. Insert the seal at the top center portion of the tub facing at the center mark of the seal.
4. Push seal into the groove and work your way around the tub facing all the way to the bottom along each side. You can remove the seal and readjust as necessary.

Once the seal is in place, close the door and compress. The door will shut tight for a while until the new seal breaks in.

If you have questions, or if this isn't the seal you are talking about, please post back and elaborate more on what you need assistance with. Please include your full model number so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope you find this information helpful.

Door Seal

not too bad a job
turn off mains. undo clamp that holds door boot to cabinet and peel off the boot.
the seal is then held onto the tub either by a large circular spring or maybe a clamp with a screw.
if it is a spring, then just force the boot downwards and pull outwards and the boot will come off.
if it is a clamp, undo the clamp and pull the boot off.
look at the new boot and you will see a groove that slips onto the lip of the tub. lubricate this groove liberally with washing up fluid or similiar.
start at the top and push the groove onto the lip. work in both directions round the boot forcing the groove onto the lip until entirely in position.
if a clamp was fitted, just put the clamp in the outer groove and tighten
if it is a spring, this is more difficult and you will find an extra pair of hands helpfull. stretch the spring and push into position in the outer groove.
fit the boot to the cabinet and replace the clamp
test for leaks on rinse cycle as water level is higher. there will be some foam from the washing up fluid.
remember to make a note of which way up the door boot was fitted as there is a top and bottom

I got some clear vinyl tubing at a hardware store (about 12 feet just to play it safe) - I think it was 1/8" I.D. tubing. Look at the rubber door seal along the top edge of the door - see how it's kind of a channel shape? Press the tubing into the groove, and cut it off flush with the end of the groove. This will help the doors to seal better to the body of the car, and since you're using tubing, it still allows it to act as a rain gutter for water runoff. If you get 12 feet, you should have enough to do all four doors. It actually makes a difference:)
