Sounds like possibly a fuel problem. If you can, remove the brass bolt holding the carburetor bowl onto the lower part of the carb. Be careful as there is an exterior washer around that bolt outside the bowl and an interior gasket around the top of the bowl where it mates against the main carb body. Inspect this bolt carefully (after cleaning out bowl) for there are small holes at the bottom and along the smooth part above the threads. This is the MAIN JET for the carb and these very small holes have to be clear for the carb to operate correctly and give the engine the fuel it needs.
