First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.15962401&pathTaken=partSearch

Next, see the following for how to release the console and remove the cabinet.

Some Sears washers do not have removable end caps (the screws to release the console are under the caps.)

If yours is this type slip a thin putty knife under the ends of the console and you should be able to release the spring clips holding the console on.

You should be able to determine which type of console you have by looking at the diagrams on the sears site.

I have a Kenmore top load washer, it filled with wather, however, will not do anything after that? Lid is closed and still won't agigtate, or drain

Your lid switch is bad. You should open the control panel, unhook the switch, cut and splice the 2 outside wires together (usually tan and grey colored - NOT THE GREEN ONE). Reinsert the plug, close the control panel and you'll be all set. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't splice the wires - also known as bypassing the lid switch. I refurbish and repair appliances for a living and I warranty for life - I bypass these switches all the time. If you need help opening the control panel and/or doing the bypassing, you can reach me via email on yahoo - smms6776.

How do you get the lid off to replace the lid switch.

remove the screws on each end of the control panel, some units you have to remove the end caps to get to the screws, then flip back the control panel it has plastic hinges so be careful, then you unplug the lid switch, remove the two clips with a screwdriver that hold the back on,open the lid and reach on the inside and pull the back towards you and lift off the base, replace the switch and reinstall!

I have a kenmore top loader it will do everything except empty water and spin when it reaches this point nothing happens and there is no sound at all

Probably a bad lid switch. Open the control console and use a insulated jumper wire to jump out the lid switch connector and try the spin cycle. If it works, replace the lid switch.
If not, replace the timer.

Replacing Lid Switch on Kenmore Washing Machine

Take your back off and reach in toward the front top panel there may be two screws holding the top down to the cabinet or the other way might be the top pop up but see through back first.

Hey chiki76
You still have a lid switch problem. The switch has to be replaced. The switch usually comes apart or the clips securing them are broken

Have kenmore 70 series washer model #20702991 ser #1069231 type 111 will not drain. It starts the cycle by agitating then stops and will not go to drain cycle. switch on top lid does not ckick, tried...

The lid switch must close for the washer to spin. I've seen a lot of these break where it's mounted to the top. You may still be able to reach under the top to grab the switch to close it and get it to drain. You'll almost certainly need to replace the lid switch.
