I suggest not to plug the printer to your computer yet. Download and install the software first. Here's the link for the available Lexmark P3150 drivers. http://bit.ly/9UbhCP . Click on Microsoft or Macintosh dropdown found below the page to choose the version of your computer's operating system. Download and install the software. Follow the instructions on the software. Hope this helps.

I HAVE A COMPAQ ARMADA 1530DM , WHEN I TURN IT ON IT SAYS NON SYSTEM DISK OR DISK ERROR. HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM

First make sure that there is no non-boot disc in either the 3.5" or the CD drive. If those are not the problem, your hard drive has either failed or lost the Master Boot Record information. You will need a Windows Install or Upgrade CD for your computer's OS. (You may also need a 3.5" boot disc for the OS.) What OS are you using on that computer. Alternatively, some third party repair software or Partition Management software can restore the boot information if the hard drive is still viable.

Try to boot to the CD and choose repair. Go the the Command Prompt (Recovery Console). Then for XP, try the fixmbr command. You can check if there is any viable data on the hard drive by trying to change drives and then typing dir to get the directory list. Try C: (enter) dir (enter). Look for a Windows folder. (Note: some computers have a recovery partition. Don't mistake that for your Windows drive.)

If your hard drive has failed, you'll need a new drive. Then use the license on the computer and an install disc for that original license. Please note: the recovery disc if you have one often doesn't work with new hardware. You will lose any third party software that was installed by Compaq. You'll need to reinstall your own software.

I hope this helps. Please add more information about your computer for additional support. If you do not have an OS disc, search for a member of a Windows User Group in your area. They often have extra copies.

Can not get the OCR to work

Try to reinstall the OCR scan software by inserting the Lexmark installation disc that came with your printer into the computer hard drive. If you have a firewall enabled, make sure to allow all Lexmark scan and print processes in the program rules or permission.
If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request one for free.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug the re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Also, make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The scan software is available only on the install disc. Insert the cd in your hard drive to install the software. Wont boot and says that no operating system can be found

Get a recovery disc for your computer (OS or a partitioning/utlity tool). You need to find out if you lost the MBR (the where is the OS information), the partition, or if the hard disc failed.

It's very likely that any repair attempt may reformat your hard disc. So consider a Live CD rescue tool and backing up if you haven't been consistently doing so. (Attach a USB hard drive or external optical drive for the backup data.)

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I have lost the install disc and need to install on new computer, any suggestions?

Type in the software in google for installing software. And download it to your computer. I know it's not much, but these days it's hard to find installing software without it being on a disc.
Hope this somewhat helps. Good Luck!
