My IBM R51's battery ran down. Connected the

My IBM R51's battery ran down. Connected the charger and nothing. No lights, no power , no sign of life. I let it stay plugged in for over an hour. Still nothing. Help????

If it is the first time its happened, has your charger fused/broke.
Is the lead from the power block to the laptop loose??

Thinkpad R51 will not boot


Try remove ALL media DVD.CD,USB,etc. Shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. Do you get anything on the monitor? Can you access the restore/recovery software? Open the Memory bay and reseat the Memory, open the HDD bay reseat the HDD, Reboot. If no change remove HDD, test, replace if necessary. Have you changed the CMOS battery?,

POWER IS NOT ON, adopter is ok no power in the board


  • There is a possibility that you have a bad battery or the problem is the motherboard.
  • If you connect the charger and your thinkpad power on the problem is the battery but if, the charger is connected and still not powering on there is a possibility your board is crash.

Will not start up no flashing hard disk light


not quite sure what the fault is yet as still looking into it, but i have read and tried this and it worked for me..(remove the battery completley and just run from mains). quite poss there is an issue with the battery.

LCD PROBLEM


It sounds as if you have the screen brightness setting turned way down for when its on the charger. You might be able to adjust this in the control panel under the battery/power options.

Startup Problem


The power socket could be loosing cause this kind problem, must re-solder the socket on PCB of motherboard by component level repair tech.

check the battery is this new? if this is new then this is under warranty. if this is old you may check the connectivity. most batteries have an age life of 2 years. you need to replace this if you think this is already attained the 2 years long service
