I have not used acid since version 6.0, but used to have the same problem.

You might want to go into the settings of acid and change the plug-ins folder to something else. Solution would be to create your own plug-ins folder somewhere on your pc, and point acid to that folder.
If you have it set to the C drive, or the program files folder, that is your problem. Acid is scanning your entire system for plug-ins, instead of just one folder. (plug-ins are also .dll files)

The same goes for the virtual instruments settings in acid.

You might also want to disable the media manager from running when acid starts, it seems to cause a lot of systems to hang. If yours does not, and you use the manager, strike the last idea.

Good luck.

Mss32.dll missing on my pc

There are several different ways that mss32.dll errors can show up on your computer. Here are some of the more common ways that you might see mss32.dll errors:
  • "Mss32.dll Not Found"

  • "This application failed to start because mss32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

  • "Cannot find [PATH]\mss32.dll"

  • "The file mss32.dll is missing."

  • "Cannot start [APPLICATION]. A required component is missing: mss32.dll. Please install [APPLICATION] again."

Mss32.dll error messages might appear while using or installing certain programs, when Windows starts or shuts down, or maybe even during a Windows installation.
The context of the mss32.dll error is an important piece of information that will be helpful while solving the problem.
Cause of Mss32.dll Errors Mss32.dll errors are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the mss32.dll file.
In some cases, mss32.dll errors could indicate a registry problem, a virus or malware issue or even a hardware failure.
How to Fix Mss32.dll Errors Important: Do not download mss32.dll from a "DLL download" website. There are many reasons why downloading a DLL file is a bad idea. If you need a copy of mss32.dll, it's best to obtain it from its original, legitimate source. Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the mss32.dll error.
  1. Restore mss32.dll from the Recycle Bin: The easiest possible cause of a "missing" mss32.dll file is that you've mistakenly deleted it.
If you suspect that you've accidentally deleted mss32.dll but you've already emptied the Recycle Bin, you may be able to recover mss32.dll with a free file recovery program.
Important:Recovering a deleted copy of mss32.dll with a file recovery program is a smart idea only if you're confident you've deleted the file yourself and that it was working properly before you did that.
  2. Run a virus/malware scan of your entire system: Some mss32.dll errors could be related to a virus or other malware infection on your computer that has damaged the DLL file. It's even possible that the mss32.dll error you're seeing is related to a hostile program that's masquerading as the file.
  3. Use System Restore to undo recent system changes: If you suspect that the mss32.dll error was caused by a change made to an important file or configuration, a System Restore could solve the problem.
  4. Reinstall the program that uses the mss32.dll file: If the mss32.dll DLL error occurs when you use a particular program, reinstalling the program should replace the file.
Important: Try your best to complete this step. Reinstalling the program that provides the mss32.dll file, if possible, is a likely solution to this DLL error.
  5. Update the drivers for hardware devices that might be related to mss32.dll. If, for example, you're receiving a "The file mss32.dll is missing" error when you play a 3D video game, try updating the drivers for your video card.
Note: The mss32.dll file may or may not be related to video cards - this was just an example. The key here is to pay very close attention to the context of the error and troubleshoot accordingly.
  6. Roll back a driver to a previously installed version: if mss32.dll errors began after updating a particular hardware device's driver.
  7. Run the sfc /scannow System File Checker command: to replace a missing or corrupt copy of the mss32.dll file. If this DLL file is provided my Microsoft, the System File Checker tool should restore it.
  8. Install any available Windows updates: Many service packs and other patches replace or update some of the hundreds of Microsoft distributed DLL files on your computer. The mss32.dll file could be included in one of those updates.
  9. Test your memory and then test your hard drive: I've left the majority of hardware troubleshooting to the last step, but your computer's memory and hard drive are easy to test and are the most likely components that might cause mss32.dll errors as they fail.
Note: If the hardware fails any of your tests, replace the memory or replace the hard drive as soon as possible.
  10. Repair your installation of Windows: If the individual mss32.dll file troubleshooting advice above is unsuccessful, performing a startup repair or repair installation should restore all Windows DLL files to their working versions.
  11. Use a free registry cleaner to repair mss32.dll related issues in the registry. A free registry cleaner program may be able to help by removing invalid mss32.dll registry entries that might be causing the DLL error.
Important: I rarely recommend the use of registry cleaners. I've included the option here as a "last resort" attempt before the destructive step coming up next.
  12. Perform a clean installation of Windows: A clean install of Windows will erase everything from thehard driveand install a fresh copy of Windows. If none of the steps above correct the mss32.dll error, this should be your next course of action.
Important: All the information on your hard drive will be erased during a clean install. Make sure you've made the best attempt possible to fix the mss32.dll error using a troubleshooting step prior to this one.
  13. Troubleshoot for a hardware problem if any mss32.dll errors persist. After a clean install of Windows, your DLL problem can only be hardware related.
Applies To The mss32.dll error message could apply to any program or system that might utilize the file on any of Microsoft's operating systems including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

Hello,

First install MOO2 on a computer were it runs and copy the entire micropose directory to the program files (x86) directory.

Then copy the dplayx.dll file from the windows\sysWOW64 directory and renamed it dplay.dll and put it back in the sysWOW64 directory (be sure the dplayx.dll file is still there) or if you have the 32 bit version it should be found in the system32 directory (I am guessing, but you will need a dplay.dll)

Found this great post about getting MOO2 to run in Windows 7, and even with the compatibility enabled it still has a graphics palette problem. The reason is because of Windows explorer, and to fix the problem you need to disable explorer.

I know this can be a little too much for some, there is an easier way.

Simply create a notepad file on your desktop, and paste the following.

(If you have 32-bit version of Windows 7.)

TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe"
cd C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2
start /w C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2\Orion95.exe
start C:\Windows\explorer.exe

(Copy and paste below if you have 64-bit)

TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe"
cd C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Microprose\Orion2
start /w C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Microprose\Orion2\Orion95.exe
start C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Make sure you rename the text file to Moo2.bat, then it will launch Moo2 and disable explorer. Moo2 plays perfectly fine this way, even without any of the compatibility enabled.

The Batch file will also restore your explorer when you exit the game.

I got problem with d3dx9_29dll was not found.anyone could help?

There are quite a few different ways that d3dx9_29.dll errors may show up on your PC. Some of the more common d3dx9_29.dll errors are listed here:
  • "D3DX9_29.DLL Not Found"

  • "File d3dx9_29.dll not found"

  • "Error while starting game executable - couldn't load DLL file d3dx9_29.dll."

  • "D3dx9_29.dll is missing"

  • "D3DX9_29.DLL is missing. Replace D3DX9_29.DLL and try again."

  • "D3dx9_29.dll not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

  • "Missing component d3dx9_29.dll"

  • "This application failed to start because d3dx9_29.dll was not found!"
D3dx9_29.dll errors usually appear when a software program, most often a game, is started. Occasionally, d3dx9_29.dll errors will display after a game is loaded but right before the game begins. Unlike many other dll errors which can have complicated causes and fixes, d3dx9_29.dll issues are caused in one way or another by a single issue - some kind of problem with Microsoft DirectX. The d3dx9_29.dll file is one of many files contained in the DirectX software collection. Since DirectX is utilized by most Windows based games and advanced graphics programs, d3dx9_29.dll errors usually show up only when using these programs.

Resolution

Important Note: Do not, under any circumstances, download the d3dx9_29.dll DLL file individually from any "DLL download site." There are a number of different reasons that downloading DLLs from these sites are never a good idea.

Note: If you've already downloaded d3dx9_29.dll from one of those DLL download sites, remove it from wherever you put it and continue with the following steps.

1. Restart your computer if you haven't yet done so.

The d3dx9_29.dll error might be a fluke or one-time issue and a simple restart could clear it up completely. It's unlikely this will fix the problem, but restarting is always a good first troubleshooting step.

2. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX 9. Chances are, upgrading to the latest version of DirectX 9 will fix the d3dx9_29.dll not found error.

Note: Microsoft often releases updates to DirectX 9 without updating the version number or letter so be sure to install the latest release even if your version is technically the same.

Note: Are you a Windows Vista user with DirectX 10? Your game or program may still need DirectX 9 files to run properly so give the installation a try. Don't worry, both versions of DirectX can be run side by side in Windows Vista.

3. Assuming the latest DirectX version from Microsoft doesn't fix the d3dx9_29.dll error you're receiving, look for a DirectX installation program on your game or application CD or DVD. Usually, if a game or other program utilizes DirectX, the software developers will include a copy of DirectX on the installation disc.

Sometimes, though not often, the DirectX version included on the disc is a better fit for the program than the latest version available online.

4. Uninstall the game or software program and then reinstall it again. Something may have happened to the files in the program that work with d3dx9_29.dll and a reinstall could do the trick.

5. Restore the d3dx9_29.dll file from DirectX 9. If the above standard troubleshooting steps haven't worked to solve your d3dx9_29.dll error, try extracting the d3dx9_29.dll individually from the DirectX 9 package.

6. Update the drivers for your video card. While it's not the most common solution, in some situations updating the drivers for the video card in your computer could correct this DirectX issue.

Nero 7 essentials disc but when i try to install it it comes up with message this version dose not support vista

Windows Vista is supported by Nero 7 since the version Nero 7.5.7.0.. Older versions of Nero 7 do not support Windows Vista. If you are trying to install Nero 7 from your original disc it is likely that there is an older version included on this disc. If you want to install Nero 7 on Windows Vista please be sure that you will only use latest Nero 7 version, you can download from the below website. Also please be sure that there won't be any rests of old Nero 7 versions on your system by performing the following steps:

1.
Start uninstalling all old Nero 7 applications and files from your computer using the Nero 7 CleanTool

Download the Nero 7 CleanTool using the following link:
Save this file to your desktop.
Unzip the ZIP-file with WinZip or WinRAR and save the content to your hard drive.
Double-click on the unzipped EXE-file to start the CleanTool.
The window “Nero General Clean Tool” will open. The installed Nero version will be displayed.
Activate the checkboxes in the displayed Nero version.
Then click the “Clean” button.
A status window will open.
The execution of the tool may take several minutes.
Please wait until the progress bar has moved completely to the right.
In the window “Nero General Clean Tool” click the “Exit” button as soon as the erasing procedure is completed.
Reboot your computer.
The Nero 7 CleanTool has removed all Nero entries from your computer.

2.
To install the latest Nero 7 version, please proceed as follows:
(Note: do not install a previous Nero 7 version from an installation CD now, but download and install the latest version of Nero 7 from our website. All Nero 7 download versions have the full range of functions as an original Nero 7 installation CD. There is no need to install a previous version of Nero first.)

Download and install the latest Nero 7 version from website using the following link:
Save this file to your desktop.
Double-click the downloaded Nero 7 installation file to start the installation.
