Hi

The scale on your recovery machine is calibrated at the factory, you are not able to calibrate it yourself.

Page 31 of the manual. You can get a copy of your manual here.

does this mean it needs a new scale. put a new scale in and it will solve my problem

  • Sheldon Dedek Jul 09, 2010

I doubt if you will be able to just drop in a new replacement. The controller is programmed (at factory) with the calibration info (perhaps an offset, or a series of values that correspond to known weights to establish a response curve). If you just replace the scale, the controller will not know how to use it. If memory serves, my old (very old robinair 12/22) suffered a similar problem on both scales (charging and recovery). Turned out to be a failed connector due to vibration.

Since this model is discontinued (per website at manual download page), you likely don't have anything to lose by doing some invetigation on your own for the obvious. But, you likely will not be able to replace the scale yourself and be able to calibrate it.

Call up a factory tech, run it by them. Given its status, they may have other ideas or resources.

How can you fix error on screen can it be reset

It often just needs recalibrating. Try turning the scale on while holding the mode/tare button with nothing on the scale. Then press the tare button again. It should show a calibration weight which you should put onto the scale. Then it automatically calibrates.

My digital gram scale does not work. the screen has some kind of word. Please help

Try recalibrating it by turning it on while holding the "tare" or "mode" button. It should show a raw data from the sensor then. Press the tare button again and it should calibrate the empty weight. Then it will show a specific weight you should put on, usually 100g. It should automatically finish calibration now. Hope this helps. The words before calibration on my scale was OUt2

Operating instructions for Volt -100 pocket scale

If you don't have the measured weights that sometimes come with scales or can be purchased individually, I'd recommend using a United States nickel/5 cent coin. They are supposedly an exact 5 g's each, and a Volt-100 scale requires 100 g's for recalibration. Therefore, you can recalibrate your scale using 20 nickels. I also use a Volt-100 and so far this has worked for me exactly; the most it's ever been off is .02 g, which is basically nothing.
What you do is remove your batteries, (I'd replace them with brand new ones if you have the option) then place the scale on a completely smooth, perfectly level, flat surface. Power the scale on, make sure it is reading 0.00, hold the M (mode) button until CAL comes on the screen, release the button for a quick second, then press it again one more time (quickly, don't hold this time), and then wait until "100.00 g" is flashing on the screen. Then you're going to place your 20 nickels on the scale as smoothly and with as little jostling or movement as possible. After a moment, the screen should read out "PASS". You then power the scale off (don't weigh anything before turning it off as it can possibly adjust the calibration you just set or weigh out heavily or light) and to test out your newly calibrated scale, turn it back on and weigh one nickel. It should be exactly 5 g's, with no more than a .02 digression in either direction if done properly. Good luck!

Scale displays OUT2

Hi,
you need just to recalibrate it:
The procedure is standard for semi-all models of pocket scales, but the way how to get to calibration mode differs from model to model (or vendor to vendor).
In brief:
1.While turn-on get to the calibration mode (by pressing and holding the ON button, or holding TARE while turinig on) You should hold this "magic" combination until the LCD will show a number (large number - it was more than 2000 in my case). This number is a raw data from the sensor.
2.Now release the "magic" button.
3.Press it one more time, the display will show 2Ero and then 100.0
4.Now put calibrated weight of 100 grams on the scale and wait 3 seconds.
5.Press "magic" button again. The display will show CAL and then PASS.
6.Now remove the weight and turn off the scale.
7.Thats all - now you can use your scale as usually.
