The start switch start the dryer but shuts itself when we release the button

Several different components could be preventing your dryer from continuing to run when the start button is released. The wiring diagram and other technical information for your dryer are shown in the image below. When the start (PTS or Push To Start) button is pushed, the PTS contact is closed and voltage is supplied to the drive motor. Start voltage is also sensed through the blue/black wire that is connected to the P1-5 Start Sense pin on the control board. When the control board senses the start voltage, it normally applies 48 volts DC voltage through the Pink/Black wire to the motor relay to hold the contact closed between the two blue wires attached to the motor relay that supplies normal run voltage to the drive motor. With the start button taped down, the motor continues to run since it gets voltage through the closed start button. Since the motor stops running when the start button is released, it indicates that you have one of these 3 failures:
Broken or disconnected Start Sense wire.

Failed electronic control board that is not sending the 48 volts DC voltage through the motor relay Failed motor relay. Wiring failure between the components.
Since the motor relay and the heater relay are both exactly the same part, you could unplug the dryer and switch the motor and heater relay to see if the dryer will stay running. If it does, then you just need to order and replace the bad relay.

Thermal fuse failure

If the relay sticks, that will cause overheating and the thermal fuse to blow.

Dyer will not turn on. Can hole the starter button in and dryer will run. remove and the dryer will stop running. When holding the start button the dryer does not heat. Any Idea's as to what may be...

broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt.
The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:

Kenmore Elite dryer start button turns off after 2 seconds

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. This is often caused by the relay inside the control panel.

If you don't have heat or the motor stops as soon as you let go of the PTS (push-to-start) button, there is a quick test you can do to see if it is a bad relay. There are two identical relays inside the control panel: one for the heater circuit (#15) and one for the motor control (#36). They are both part number 3405281.
  • Unplug the dryer.
  • Identify the two relays. Looking at the panel from the front, the heater relay is just to the right of the circuit board, and the motor relay is just left of the PTS button and at a slight angle. You probably want to label and/or diagram which wire goes onto each of the spade lugs.
  • Remove the wires, unscrew the relays and switch them.
  • Ensure that nothing is going to short out and plug in the dryer.
  • Set fabric selector to High and the timer to Timed Dry past the 10 minute mark
  • Press the PTS button and release it.
What you are looking for after the changing relay positions:
  • If you had motor-stops problems before, but now it continues to run but with no heat, you almost certainly had a bad motor relay.
  • If you had motor-runs-but-no-heat problems, but now the motor stops, had a heater relay problem. Try holding the button in for 10 or 15 seconds and observe the heating element. If it starts glowing, the heater relay failed.
The replacement relay can be found via these sources: (It pays to net search!)

Runs when PTS held but shuts off when released/no heat

No problem at all.The motor has a start and run winding.Your run winding is bad.The reason you have no heat is the run winding has to run to close the contacts on the motor switch.Replace the motor ,both problems solved. Hope this helps Please rate my response :)

Roper dryer by maytag press star button here noise but does not start?

you will nead someone to help you to see if you have a bad moter.first open door, with your right hand push in on the door switch.hold the switch in ,have someone push the start switch in and at the same time with your left hand turn the dryer drum clock wise,if the dryer starts than you have a bad moter.the cost of the moter would be 1/3off the cost off a new unit.
