Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver

GPS not searching for sattelite!!

Visiting Melbourne, Australia right now. GPS has been working wonderfully well all around Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand but in Melbourne she says "route calculation error: no raods near starting point". She doesn't even appear to be searching for a sattelite. She still knows how fast we are going and what direction we are travelling but can't seem to find a map. Anybody got any suggestions. I have been trying for a couple days. Big open spaces etc but no go.

Make sure you have a clear, wide view of the sky - the GPS
needs to have a direct view of at least 3-4 satellites to triangulate
your location. If there are tall trees or buildings around it won't be
    able to

"I recommend to do a master reset to clear any corrupt data that might be in the unit.

    1. With the device off put your fingertip on the BOTTOM RIGHT hand corner of the TOUCHSCREEN and press down.

    2.
While pressing down on the screen go ahead and power the unit ON and
continue pressing the screen until you see a message that says DO YOU
REALLY WANT TO ERASE ALL USER DATA.

    3. You will then click YES.

    4. You will then go through the set up again and this will correct the issue.

    Once
you have completed the reset please let the unit sit outside for about
15-30 standing still so that it can acquire satellites."

    This
appeared to work at first, but did not take away the problem in the
end. Strange enough it does not always happen, sometimes it is working
fine. Sometimes it looses connection after 5 minutes and does not
reconnect. I am currently thinking of adding an extra external antenna
    to solve the issue.

    Hope this helps.

go into your favorite places list and delete the place named "home"
then go to the location you want to save as your new home and press
"where to" and then "home". Since there is no home saved, the GPS will
ask if you want to save your current location as home. That should do
it for you, and the map should be there.

You can use the latest 'Tomtom Home' to purchase and download the AUSTRALIA map for your GO 700.
SYDNEY is included as well all major cities (ADELAIDE, BRISBANE, CANBERRA, DARWIN, MELBOURNE, PERTH, ETC...) and 99+ % of all Australian roads.
Hope it helps.

Wont search for sattelites

Hi

Does your unit have an external aerial as shown in the pic, If so double check the connection from the aerial into back of the fishfinder, lube with water proof grease (Non-conductive)

You do not say whether it has worked before.

Also need to know where it is located on boat, it must have a view of sky overhead (If internal antennae)

Ext antennae must also be in view of sky, not under "solid" cover.

My eMap (version 2.75) stays for hours in 'searching the sky'

My eMap was doing the same thing. Try putting in fresh batteries and make sure you are in a good reception area. While turning the eMap on, hold the on button and the ESC button at the same time until the system is on. It will ask if you want to reset. I opted for yes. My eMap started working again!

GPS not searching for sattelite!!

Hi,
Look your best and probably quickest fix would be to contact the maker as they should be able to give you the answer straight away. How old is the GPS also and would it still be under warranty? I had one repaired for my yacht once and was pretty quick and reasonably priced.

Good luck ...what are you travelling in? Meantime you could pick up a UBD from a Post Office they are realatively cheap, cheaper than Melways. LOL

GARMIN C330 WILL NOT LOCATE SATTELITE

Have you tried a Master Reset? It may help, but it WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES. To do a Master Reset, turn the unit off. Press and hold the bottom right of the screen, then press and release the power button. Keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you are sure you want to reset. Follow the prompts.
