Question about Westinghouse SK-26H520S 26 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

I moved my new Westinghouse LCD TV from one room to another, but cannot obtain a signal. The connector in the new room is the "cable" connector, although I have a TiVO/DirecTV setup, but it worked with my old TV. (It connected via the composite inputs in the old room, and connected to a DirecTV box.) Do you know what I can try with the TV in the new location to eliminate the problem of "No Signal"? I've tried all the "sources" that the new TV identifies, and on Channel 3 and on Channel 4.

Hello,

The no signal is displaying because the TV is not recognizing or detecting any input. This could be as a result of wrong connection.

Use the RCA wire (yellow, white and red). Connect the yellow (video display) and white and red (sound audio) from the Direct TV Box out, to the AV in of your TV. Turn on the Direct TV box and press source on the TV, once, twice or thrice, depending on when there is a display.

Or, you can connect a local antenna to the RF in of the TV, then search for TV stations from your TV menu. Antenna connection does not need source, just select a station and begin the search, You can even select auto search.

Good luck

Any idea why the connector worked before on my old plasma, but does not work with the new LCD?

Any idea why the connector worked before on my old plasma, but does not work with the new LCD?

    Hello,

if the connector is working on your plasma, then it might be that its not compatible with your LCD or the in-put for the connector on your LCD might be bad or maybe you didn't fix it well. Check fr any bent or broken pin and make sure all connections are intact, then try again.

    Take care.

How do I connect my Sylvania DVD VCR Player to my Westinghouse LCD TV?

Your Sylvania player probably has three outputs: right audio (red), left audio (white), and video (yellow). Use a corresponding three conductor cable to connect to corresponding inputs on the rear of your Westinghouse TV (if it has them).

HMDI 1 and 3 do not work (why) ?

Since you did not mention HDMI 2, I assume you have that connected to something else, and that is working properly. The following procedure is based on that assumption.

First, turn off everything connected to the set, and the TV itself. Disconnect the HDMI cable from whatever is going to HDMI 2 (leave the TV end alone for now) and connect it to the PS3. If the PS3 shows up on the TV, the problem is most likely a bad cable. To verify, turn off the PS3 and the TV, then move the known good HDMI cable to either HDMI 1 or 3. If the PS3 works on those also, the HDMI cable you had originally connected to the PS3 is defective. I know there are some bad ones out there; there is at least one lot with a right-angle connector on one end and a straight connector on the other that has a very high failure rate.

If the PS3 does not work with a known good cable to HDMI 2, then the PS3 has a problem. Try using a component (RGB) or composite (yellow end) connection to narrow down what the issue is.

If HDMI 1 and 3 do not work with a known good cable or any input source (DVR or cable box), then the HDMI switching circuit inside the TV is defective. Since the set is "new" that would be a warranty issue.

No power Westinghouse LD4655BX

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Sounds to me like you are trying to use a composite hookup or a generic HDMI cable. If you get the official Microsoft HDMI connector it also includes phono audio outputs and an optical audio out for 5.1 surround,

It is a 42" Westinghouse SK32H520S and it worked

It is probably a poor connection through the coax. I would replace the coax and that may resolve the issue.

My 42" Westinghouse HDMI inputs just stopped working. I thought it was the TW Explorer 4250HDC issue so I got a new one from TW. Still said no signal from HDMI. So, I shut the TV down and pulled the power cord out of the back. I waited a few seconds and reconnected the pwr cord. The TV "re-booted" so to say and now the HDMI inputs work. I think TVTEK has the right idea that it is firmware/software related. In the mean time, you might want to give that a try.
