Use a small needle, paper clip or pipe cleaner and run it up into the "needle" section under the lid that pierces the top of the cup. The problem is one you will have often as coffee grounds get up in there and dry between uses and clogs the hole.

You could try and run vinegar in the reservoir. call the manufacturer if that doesn't help, they will replace the unit if its under warranty. speaking from experience.

The machine will not pump water to make cup of coffee. Cleaned needle area, powered on and off, nothing. The descale light has never come on in 3 years we have had machine. Can't even attempt to descale...

Step 1: Lift up the water reservoir and drop it back into place. There is a magnet that has to be in the right position and putting the reservoir back into place causes it to go back where it should be. This method has worked for me.
Step 3: It could be that your Keurig's water line is clogged. To flush out debris, run water through your brewer a few times without a K-Cup. I'd recommend this step if your Keurig is brewing some coffee, just not a full cup.
Step 4: Try turning the power on and off or try unplugging (for a long stretch if you can). When you turn the Keurig back on, be sure to give it plenty of warm-up time. This has also worked for me.
Step 5: It may be time to descale. Most models will give you a message when it's time to have the mineral deposits cleaned. Go here for instructions
Step 6: Turn off your brewer and use an unfolded paperclip to clean out the holes in the top needle.
Step 7: If you've given your Keurig a good spanking and it still won't behave, contact Keurig (866-901-BREW) for help.

When the cup button is pushed, the maker tries to make coffee (five or six grinding type sounds) but nothing happens. The screen reads "brewing" but no coffee comes out.

Run the keurig with vinegar instead of water. Then run it 5 times with only water just to remove the vinegar taste. Do this once a month. Also there are pins that pokes holes on top and bottom of coffee kcups, find the pins and clean it by unclogging with paperclips or some thinner wire. Buy a K-cup holder from amazon.com. Its the black cone shaped holder.

Fill tank with water and put plastic coffee pod in place. Press the power button and cup size and nothing happens except a smelly substance is injected into the water tank.

Keurigs are known to have issues. I love them, but hate them. It sounds like your water line has clogged up. I can be wrong, but I have helped many people online fix this problem. Make sure the system is cold as not to scald yourself. Take a thin paperclip, unfold it straight and gently stick it in the k-cup piercer(where the water usually comes out of). This is done because calcium build-up and other debris causes that line to get clogged, and this method is to unclog it. If this method works, start a habit of running the coffee maker without a k-cup once in a while to prevent this. Good luck =)
