Hello iano1

There's somethin' 'bout walkin' cross the keyboard when you're tryin' to type that all kitties find irrisistable, I think.

It sounds like kitty changed the resolution of your display. To clarify, though, is the display still taking up the whole screen and everything is just smaller than it was b4?

If you're unsure of which operating system your computer is running, please, visit THIS site.

If the issue is smaller icons, pictures, etc on your "Desktop", please, view THIS instructional video for changing your screen resolution in Windows XP operating system and THIS (brief) instructional video on the same topic for Windows Vista operating system.

If the issue is that the display no longer takes up your entire screen (there's black or some other color around one or more sides of the display), please, post back here and let us know.

If you have ANY other questions, etc on this topic, just post back here w/ them. We'll be happy to continue to assist you.

If I answered your questions and you have no other questions or need of our assistance on this topic...

...would you kindly take just a moment to close the problem by assigning a FIXYA rating for my "solution"? I would be very grateful for your generosity and show of appreciation.

Thank you once again for using FixYa! Have a beautiful day.

It sounds, display properties has been changed.

  1. Right click on desktop
  2. Select Properties from pop-up menu appeared (for Vista Select Personalize and then Display setting from the window appeared).
  3. Press Settings tab in the top of the windows appeared.
  4. Set the screen resolution to a proper value by silding the track bar.
  5. Press ok.
  6. It will display as per your new settings for 15 seconds if you got the actuall what you need then hit on Yes otherwise hit on No and try a different resolution setting.
  7. Finally hit on Apply...n....... be......:))

If any problem just Ask me.
Thanks
Iqbal

Can't get big monitor to work with my laptop

How are you connecting the "big monitor" to your laptop? It is probably that the resolution your widescreen laptop is using is not supported by the "big monitor". Also, once the monitor is connected you may have to press a few keys to get it to display on the big monitor. You will need to press the FN key located next to the windows key and the other key that is associated with changing from the laptop screen to a monitor.

The menu constantly pops-up on my Samsung 17 inch LDC monitor

what does the pop up menu say? I'm guessing it says something like "Optimal settings are 1280x1024, Press 1 to confirm, press 2 to disable". If the message is anything like this, your monitor is trying to tell you that your display settings are less than optimal. You can either disable the message by "pressing 2" or changing your display settings to the recommended resolution. If the menu you're getting is just the control panel and there's no actual message, leave your computer on, reach around the back and disconnect the power cable from the monitor, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in. Samsung monitors sometimes have a glitch and need to be reset.

Can't change screen back using F8

Yea there is, go into the control panel, click display and go to settings and Check what is in display. If there is one for Multiple monitors choose only one monitor and make the laptop screen the default monitor display. If you cant find it there, go to advanced and look through there and depending on your system there should be setting to change it back to normal somewhere, it may just take a bit of looking.

Hope This Helps

Resolution

it is definatley something to do with the graphics card. Or just the settings you have set it to. Have you tried pressing the auto set button on the monitor itself to see what happens? other to that if you can set the display settings to 1680 by 1050 and display it to highest 32bit. If it doesn't let you do this then you definatley have graphics card issues.

Problem!!!!

I don't think this is a problem with the monitor itself, it looks more like a setting within your display driver and I'm not sure what video card you are using! However you can try this 1.)Right click on your desktop and click properties 2.)Click on the Settings Tab 3.)Look for and click on the advanced Button 4.)go through all the tabs on this dialog and look for something that says "Rotation" there should be a setting for Normal or something. Set it to normal and press ok/Apply! Hope this helps! regards, babb
