Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have noticed that there is a little wetness on the floor after my load of washing clothes is done. It is towards the right back corner, at first it was just a little round circle of wetness now ti is a little bit more but it does not seem to happen with every load. It is a whirlpool top loader about 4 years old. Please help, I am going on vacation and worried something will happen when I am gone.

Thank you so much, I was just worried it could be a major problem. So you think that is waht it cuold be. The fact that I have been using the maching while it leaks can that be a problem?

Thanks Again for your help. My washer is in the basement, but I will definitely shut the water off by the machine before I leave. Thank you very much!!

Oh, the tube for output of water from the machine could have a clamp that is loose. Also, if you are going on vacation, shut the water off to your washer so that the tubes won't break while you are gone. This is recommended by the manufacturers, and could save you a lot of money in water lost if the tubes would unfortunately burst.

Have a nice vacation.

It will probably be fine as long as you turn the water off and don't use it for the duration of your being away.

If the leak were bigger and the washer was on a floor that was above something sensitive, then I would be more concerned. Most people put their washers in the basement where it won't do too much damage to a cement floor and there is a drain nearby.

First I noticed that the clothes after washing them were still a little too wet---then a month later, a loud noise ensued. no leaking no smoke and still wet clothes, also no shaking.

Sounds as if the belt may have a flat spot in it. They run about 24 dollars online. Take
a look at it by unplugging it and having someone hold the machine back at an angle.
There should be an obvious area of excessive wear somewhere on the belt.
Also check the idler pulley (wheel) for excessive play or binding. Hope this helps.

there could be few problems, and your right, floor could be the problem.
Try holding it by the corners when begining a cycle, so you can see where is the problem, which corner is not leveld
(The testing: when begining a cycle puch down one corner at the time and only one, when machine apper's stable diagonaly from that corner is the problem, you need it higher)
Also there could be a problem with iner springs (that are holding the drum), one may come lose, check that if you can

Remove the front lower panel (3 screws on lower lip - lay on floor to see). Panel come right off. there is a round "dial" to the front housing. Put down a bath towel on the floor and unscrew dial - then pull it out.

due to weight and normal motion during wash/spin a very sturdy floor is necessary under front loads also some floors are a little slick and sliding may occur ck for weak floor and maybe some kind ok rough cushion under feet to reduce sliding also if on pedistals even more vibration may occur be sure all screws in pedistal are secure usually 4 from top onto bottom of washer also adj legs to lower unit as close to floor as possible and tighten lock nuts

this is not 100% diagnosis as can't listen to noise but fault may be bearing lip seal disintegrating which is a serious fault and if im right then bearing will shortly go as well. reason it is noisy during start is that seal is dry and gets wet when full of water

Water leaking from wash machine

It is probably a seal that is on or near the bottom of the tub. Dirt and grim wears at this seal over time. The leak is slow so it is hard to visually see.
