Question about Acer Aspire 4520-5582 Notebook
THe realtek Digital Output will only output sound if you have an optical cable attached. this allows you to connect your laptop a audio receiver via an optical cable. this is why you get no sound when it is set to digital output.

He is right.
There are 2 kind of SPDIF.One "electrical" - you can use and connect mini jack to coaxial cable and secound one optical. In this cas you need optical mini jack to to Toslink.

Your drivers may need updated.
1: Right click on My computer > and then click on Properties button.
2: And then go in Hardware tag
3: Their you can find the device manager button click on that
4: At that place you will see the all drivers which are installed and also those which are not installed properly.
5: If your sound driver is not installed properly then you can see a yellow caution sign on his icon. Double click on that.
After click go on driver tag and click on update driver.
And after doing all these steps, the computer automatically ask from you to search drivers from the Internet.
I had the same problem and this worked. Hope it helps.
