Question about Bosch 24 in. SHE43C05UC Stainless Steel Free-Standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

I have a Bosch Exclusiv dishwasher (Model SGS 8812 GB) which, from installation in January 2002, has consistently caused glassware to go cloudy. This happens after about 8/10 weeks from buying new glasses. I use Finish Rinse Aid and Salt and have an independent water softener installed. This is proving an expensive exercise, as I need to replace glassware every 10/12 weeks. Have you any suggestions, please? Thank you - Doreen Sheardown

I don't know if these suggestions will help, but will try them - one by one - and hope for good results.

You are sandblasting your glasses. The added salt with the salt from the softener is causing the cloudiness. If you are rinsing the dishes to be mostly clean first and using the suggested amount of detergent you are way over sudsing.

#1 Stop using salt
#2 Only use 1 Tablespoon detergent in each cup. Increase/decrease by 1Teaspoon until desired results are obtained.
#3 Do not put clean dishes in washer(if you must to wait for full load then experiment with even less detergent).
#4 Do not use detergent with baking soda(more abrasives)
#5 Check the ingredients in your brand and choose one without salt.

This is a common problem and is not addressed in the manuals very well. Recommended amount of detergent is 1Tbls per grain of water hardness. You have softened your water to near zero. Translates to zero detergent needed. Couple that with pre-rinsing the dishes and too much detergent and you will have washability issues.

Nice choice on the dishwasher, Bosch is a great machine.

This is all too common problem I've run across many times. This and the opposite problem of too hard of water where you can't put enough detergent in to get suds. You will also find that the less expensive the glasses are the less they will cloud. Bottom line is eliminate the abrasives in your wash cycle. I believe you will soon be very happy with this dishwasher.
It has been a pleasure to serve you,
    Eric

It turned my glassware cloudy; what caused that & how do I clean them?

Usually too hot a wash and lack of rinse aid. I don't use (or recommend) the "all in 1 tablets" The dispensers on dishwashers are made for powder and liquid rinse aid. You should use them. Running the glassware through the machine again with these products will usually clear the cloudiness. Make sure the bottom drain filters are cleaned regularly as well. I recommend "Finish" products, they are pretty good and give a good result.

CLOUDY GLASSWARE

Cloudy glassware happens when your glasses are etched by the combination of your water and the dishwashing detergent you are using. Once the etching occurs, you can't really do anything about it. If you are not doing so, try using a rinse agent such as Jet-Dry. This will help prevent the etching/cloudiness.
I hope this helps. If so , please come back and rate my suggestion.

you have to make sure the water temp going into the machine is correct. let the water run for about 2-3mins then start the machine.

Glassware is cloudy

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

Bosch dishwasher she58c leaves all my glasses cloudy

using to much soap will cause this problem.
If the unit can not get all the soap out on the rinse cycle, it will leave residue on the glasses.
ALSO:
1)Make sure you are using rinse-aid!!!!!
2) turn your sink water on before you turn the d/w on. That way the water is already hot when it goes in.

Dishes are washing but coming out all cloudy looking

Cloudy glassware is often caused by a failed heating element. Recomend you get the element tested and replaced.

Not coming clean

Hi, Are you using Jet Dry Rinse Agent? It is very important to keep the washer supplied with this stuff. Otherwise, glassware will come out with a cloudy film and water spots. If you are using it, perhaps it is not being dispensed by the machine. I am having this trouble now, but my machine is about 10 years old, and has always turned out beautiful glassware unless it ran out of Jet Dry. Now, there seems to be a problem in my machine not dispensing it, and I was searching for a solution when I came across your posting. Baxterdog

Cold water. Water has never been hot since installed.

indicates that the heating element in the unit is non operational ( not connected or burnt out )

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.
