Just receive this machine and am not sure which switch is the chill land which switch is the churn!

Simple. The churn button is the one with the swirl on it (i.e. indicating churn). The chill button just looks like a snowflake.

How long do I churn mixture?


Probably 15-20 minutes depends on machine and mixture. Some machines stop churning when the ice cream gets so thick that it stops the beater from turning. If you have this type of machine, when you hear clicks turn it off. If you start with a frozen container vessel, your ice cream will freeze faster. Remember that longer is not necessarily better. The longer it is out, the warmer it gets, and will turn back into slush.

Usually with these cheaper ice cream makers you put the bowl in the freezer for 12 hours and then put it on the machine and turn it on . Very important point turn it on so it is churning. Why so that what ever you pour in doesn't freeze solid and stop the agitator from churning. Most ice cream is Cream and sweeten condensed milk and flavouring. I do not have this exact ice cream maker but the one I do have has made three different ice creams in it so far. Add 1000 mL of cream to 250 mL sweeten condensed cream. Watch it for about 20 minutes till ice cream is solidifying then transfer to an plastic icecream container and put in freezer for at least 4 hours.

Not churning corectly


This sounds like a low on charge condition which you probably won't be able to repair yourself unless you are a refrigeration technician. There is a possibility that the cooling fan is not operational or the condenser is dirty. Two things that are very easy to check. First check the temperature of the tubing going to and from the compressor. Both will be hot if this is your problem. Blow out the condenser with compressed air. If it is greasy, use a cleaner. If the fan motor is not running, check for voltage at the motor. If there is no voltage check the switch and wiring. If there is replace the motor. If everything is clean and running the tubing from the compressor to the condenser should be hot to warm and the outlet around room temp. Run your fingers down the side of the condenser from the inlet. If it is cool after the first tubing bend, it is low on charge most likely and is probably not worth repairing.

Ice cream maker doesn't chill


The machine must be upright for 24 hours before using it.

If it was stored on its side or upside down you MUST wait 24 hours with the machine in the correct upright position. The 'person' who delivered mine made sure he tumbled it over and over again scanning shipping labels even though it said everywhere fragile and this side up.

If the machine does not work at cooling after 24 hours there is a problem and it should be returned.

Do not expect rock hard ice cream, but thick scoop-able medium firm soft-serve is easy to get as a result. A few hours in the freezer will harden it more.

Do you use enough salt to assist in the freezing period? What kind of salt do you use? Use rock salt since it works better than table salt. This wills speed up the freezng time.
