How to repair or unstick Sigma K zoom 100-200mm macro - tele focus stuck at infinity

Remove the lens from the camera, set MF on the lens, try gently to free it by hand. If this works, clean the contacts on the lens and camera body - if not, it needs repair.

Why does focus ring hit some type of stop?

Hi.
There is a problem inside your lens. It can be a flexible PCB (printed circuit board) or screw out of possition, so the focus moving parts can´t complete the range.
If the infinity focus gets at 3ft, there are also some optical group loose. That is the reason infinity position is located closer than it must be.
Send it to a Sigma Service.

If practically new have the auto focus circuitry repaired under warranty. If not under warranty it will cost a pretty penny since working on those units is labor intensive and the parts are proprietary and expensive..

Autu focus

Best thing you can do is focus manually, using the little green dot in the bottom left hand corner of the viewfinder for assistance.
The 'lag' is due to the camera deciding the focus point, passing it to the motor in the lens, by which time the subject hs moved and so it tries to fix again by moving through the range.

Its annoying, but focusing manually, although not a solution per se, is the only option.
Sorry mate.

Focusing to infinity

Hey redbarnz,
If the lens won't focus to infinity then there is probably something physically wrong with the lens. With the dominance of digital equipment you can find fantastic deals on manual focus 35 mm lenses. I would look at Canon manual focus lenses rather than sticking with vivitar. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Unsure of how to use the extra functionality

That is the focusing ring. I'm guessing your camera is set to focus automatically (Little switch on the side of the lens should have settings for either AF or MF, or something similar.)

If its on AF, you don't need to adjust the focus ring.
However, if you have problems with the AF (sometimes it has trouble, especially in low light) you can switch it to MF, and focus manually by changing the ring.

As a general guideline, the more you twist to towards macro, it focuses closer and closer, and infinity futher away (if you're taking a shot of the moon, you want it on infinity)

Keep on changing the focus during video capture

As you pan autofocus will try to latch onto a different focal point. Check your manual or go to the Sony Tech support team

Powershot S1 Digital Camera: Flash won't fire

Make sure the camera is not in Document mode . Document takes a picture with added contrast so text stands out. Make sure the camera is not set to Infinity focus . When you select Infinity Focus, the camera automatically turns off the flash and auto focus so you get sharp, clear pictures. Make sure the camera is set to Fill, Auto, or Red Eye flash. See your camera manual for details about setting the flash.
