(hp 4000 printer) A piece of paper is stuck between tray 2 and under just before the toner cartridge. I can lift the flap on top of the paper after removing the toner cartridge, but cannot dislodge the...

Probably the way to go is to remove the toner and tray 2.
lay down a bunch of newspapers on the floor (not a rug). The printer is unplugged at this point.
Turn the printer over and lay it down. Take a sheet of paper and fold it lengthwise in quarters.
Manually feed the folded paper into the paper path from the bottom. Push and pull the paper thru
the paper path. The object is to push the small piece out where you can reach it.

It's not the easiest thing to explain. You always want to go in the direction that the paper moves thru the printer. This is why you start feeding from the bottom.
You know that there is a piece of plastic that is above the feed roller for tray 1 that you can pull out to give you more room.

Paper feeder stuck

If the paper feeder stuck, do the following:
  1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.
  2. If paper is stuck inside, open the printer cover and remove the jammed paper, including any torn pieces. Then close the printer cover.
  3. If paper remains near the sheet feeder, press the paper feed roller lever inside the paper feeder to release the jammed paper, then carefully pull it out.
  4. Load the paper correctly.
  5. Press the cp_button_14.gif stop button to resume printing.
  • If the printer continues to jam or misfeed paper, and you are certain that there are no foreign objects lodged down inside the paper feed area, your printer may require service. Please call Epson technical support for further assistance.

Says paper jam no paper in machine

HI,I had the same problem today. I ended up taking a piece of paper and from the back side started lightly forcing the paper in the back slot. I had the top cover open where you replace the ink cartridges. Towards the back you can see the paper start coming into the printer next to some rollers. On mine there was a small black switch about an inch from the right in the middle of the plastic piece above the rollers. Once I started pushing this paper in I could see this switch was stuck in the down position. After several minutes of pushing the paper in and out the switch moved up and out of the paper path. I then pulled out the paper and hit the ok button and it came on line. This may work better with a piece of card stock.
That switch is the issue. I ended up finding an object lodged against the switch. Needed a flashlight, plastic giftcard and a tweezers to get it out. Works great now.

Also, open the printer where the paper for printing is put in.
At the back left hand side there is a white long piece and either side a white piece with a small square on it.
Use a longingish screwdriver and push this gently down. It will click back into place quite easily.
Note: this tops the paper from feeding in and needs reseting after a jam.You will know all is OK when a sheet of ordinary paper is put in > touches the feed roller above the white bits, and is level across the paper feed area.

    Hope it helps,,

    Thanks for using fixya.....

Paper is pulled into printer unevenly causing paper jam

Look closely at the "path" that the paper takes through the printer -- you probably have a small piece of paper stuck somewhere, that is causing the paper-feed to get "skewed".

Failing that, take the printer to a qualified technician.

Orange light next to triangle symbol is on and flashing and it won't print

Possible paper jamb or open cover.
If you recently "pulled" paper out somewhere, there may be a tiny piece still stuck in the mechanism.
Could be waiting for manual feed or different size paper or envelope. Pressing the "go" button will force it to use loaded paper.
Other issues could also cause this "attention" light.

When I try to print anything the paper in my Brother HL-2040 gets stuck and doesn't properly feed through the printer. The paper light flashes and I have to open the paper tray, pull the paper down, and...

Sounds like there is a piece of paper stuck somewhere. In the back of the printer is a rear door, fold that down and check everywhere. Get a vacuum and first vacuum, then blow everything. Sometime dust can get in the way if it builds up. Make sure your paper is dry (hasn't gotten wet with humidity), and lays flat. Maybe try feeding some heavy weight paper with the manual feed in from to help push any jams out of the way. I've done all of the above at one time or another to help clear out my printer.....hope this helps

Paper jam. paper pulls towards the right hand side and jams

Sound like you have something stuck in the paper feed path, check for a paperclip or similar, it may be that you have had a jam and torn off a piece of paper inside the printer which is now stuck, when removing jams from any nmachine allways pull paper in direction of feed never back on itself as it can cause this very problem

HP LaserJet 1320 folds over top left corner of every page printed

I see this problem alot after a paper jam occurs and someone has pulled the stuck paper out. There is probably a piece of paper stuck in the printer somwhere. If you open the front toner door and take the cartridge out, you will see a roller at the bottom front. DON"T touch the roller but take it out. You may find the paper there!

Roller pulls several sheets of paper instead of one

You need a separation pad for the paper tray. It would be advised to replace the feed rollers at the same time.
In the short term, you can pull out the paper tray, and on the very front (where the paper feeds out), you will see a black (or gray) rubber pad that is spring loaded. Scrub this pad with a little alcohol, on a cloth. You can even rough it up a little with a brillo pad. This should improve the feeding for the short term.

    *please rate me :)
