Fix DVD/CD ROM to work Acer M1610, Computer not detecting DVD/CD ROM. No drive is seen how to fix this, what are my options. OS is Vista

Hi rossclark3,

Try to check the jumper settings of your DVD/CD ROM if it is properly assigned as Master or Slave.
Afterwards, also check the cable connecting the DVD/CD ROM to the motherboard.
Finally, restart your PC and check the BIOS Setup if it can already detect your DVD/CD ROM.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

I have a problem with my pc if i connect two of my 80gb hardrives only one appear sometimes they appear both but the dvd rom disappear, even after formating no difference what could be the problem?

How do you have them set up? Most likely you should have one set as Master and the second one set as SLAVE. Formatting the harddrives should have nothing to do with detecting them in CMOS. The DVDrom is set to the 2nd cable.

My DVD-ROM won't recognize DVD movies, but plays CD's perfectly well. I've downloaded 5 different players, to no avail.

do it only if u r a professional..

open it up, with the lens assembly there is a small preset, turn it using a screw driver a little anti-clockwise..clean the lens with clean cotton using isopropyl alcohol..
if not done, replace the lens assembly..
or else, replace the drive with a standby n see..

i gotta know: is ur drive pata/sata and the device make n model..
assuming that ur drive is pata, n u r a professional n aware of bios/cmos setup utility handling..!!
open up ur system cabinet and see if all the data cables n jumper settings at the back of the drives (master/slave selection)..itz most important..!!
however, at the bootup (0.29sec) start pressing briskly the key to enter cmos utility or bios setup (eg. F1/F2/F10/Del as applicable)..glance in the standard settings if r detected individually..change the 'Mode' if m/b is hybrid type(both SATA+PATA) : Native/Compatible/Enhanced (as applicable)..
see if ur device needs any additional driver or not, if so try downloading..
also try checking itz data cable for loose or faulty..
above all explanation is applicable only if itz not being detected by the m/b or system..(not for reading or writing problem)..

contact ur system admin/vendor....

Please help me i can't find my ''cmos'' to make cd-rom boot. please send to: ----> whiteking_94@yahoo.com

The CMOS cell is sited on motherbord.
Open your cpu cabinet then you find 1 square motherbord chipset .there is 1 round cell it is called cmos cell.
If you want to reset all settings of motherbord pull it for 10 minutes then all settings are defaults automatic.
Then if you wan't to boot your computer with cd rom .
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot option set first boot device as your cd- rom .Then save all settings and exit.
Make sure your cd rom is detected proeprly in bios .
Then put your bootable disk in cd rom so you can boot computer with cd rom.

I cant play a disc or DVD

Hello,

Please try to reboot your laptop then go to CMOS Settings and detect the CD/DVD Rom and try to see if it is detected by your system. If it is detect ted then exit CMOS Settings and then load the Operating system you have and ope the DVD/CD Rom you have. But if it does not detect the DVD/CD Rom then i advice you to find a computer technician to help you fix the problem cause hardware problem is the main reason why it does not detect the disk drive you have, its either the connection bus is not properly plug or the Disk drive is damage or not functioning well.

Thanks

Display Dvd Rom

Hello my friend, please try to reboot your computer then goto CMOS and check if the DVD Rom that you have is detected by your system. If it does not detect then you can manually detect a device using CMOS function. Also try to check if the connectivity of your DVD Rom is not diabled otherwise enable it to detect your device. If all the above steps you followed then the result is still the same then please find a computer technician in your place then let him open and fix the problem.

If you need more assistance my friend please reply to this post.

Thank you.

Acer aspire can't find the dvd to play cd's

In the device manager, select the DVD ROM and UNINSTALL / REMOVE the device.  Restart Windows . . . did this work?  If not, boot into your CMOS and see if the drive is being detected by the motherboard... if yes, look further and make sure the settings for the drive are correct. Make sure that all IDE interfaces are enabled in the CMOS settings (both)

hi there,

try to detect in the CMOS set up. restart your computer in booting process press F2 or Delete tab
and check if your dvd is detected if not you should check the cable/ power connection of your dvd. and then try again.

if detected if your using vista update dvd drivers for vista and then if it is xp you have a like this if you downgrade your pc from vista to old XP. you have this problem. update to microsoft the SP2 and SP3 updates.

No DVD-ROM boot

If you have put a Windows system disc in your dvd drive, then re boot your pc should find your cd then say press enter, but if it's stopping before you get there, an error has occured. Did you hear 2 beeps(not together) Go back into the bios and go into the 'standard cmos settings' and at the bottom you will see a line saying 'halt on all errors'. Also check that your HD drives are listed as they should be; and not an old drive, if you have changed your drive that is. Dissable this and save settings and try booting again to your dvd drive.
