Our garage door worked fine for a while then it started acting up. I first o*** checked to make sure the wires in the ceiling unit were securly in since the first time we had the problem of the garage door not working the wires had come loose.still no work. second we checked to be sure nothing was blocking the sensors. Nothing was and the sensor lights won't even come on when we have them lined up like they usually are. the wall unit usually has the green light glowing but it is not anymore. what do I need to do to get my garage door working again please help. I am tired of lifting the door open and pulling it down to close it everytime I go in or out of the garage. thank you so much for your help.

Xheck for power. Does a GFI power the garage outlet. did it trip? Secondly, is your wiring correct. 2 b/w to blk terminal, r/w to red. white (3 of them) to white.

It sounds like you have lost power to the opener. Remove the plug and plug in a lamp and see if that works. Could be a circuit breaker. If the lamp works then I would pull the logic board and check for loose connections around the small transformer.

SOURCE: Our garage door worked fine

IF YOU HAVE NO LIGHTS - DO YOU HAVE POWER TO THE UNIT???

YOU MAY STILL HAVE A WIRING PROBLEM.

1. VERIFY YOU HAVE POWER AT THE WALL/CEILING OUTLET.

2.- DISCONNECT THE WIRE ON # 1.

MOMENTARILY SHORT ACROSS SCREWS 1 AND 2 ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD - IF THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO MOVE YOU HAVE A WIRE SHORTED OR NOT PROPERLY CONNECTED.

IF IT DOES NOT CLICK OR MOVE THE DOOR YOU MAY NEED A NEW CIRCUIT BOARD.

HOPE THIS HELPS

IF YOU NEED FURTHER HELP - GO TO LIFTMASTER.COM OR CHAMBERLAIN.COM & DOWNLOAD THE OPERATOR MANUAL - IT WILL HAVE A GOOD DIAGNOSTIC / TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION.

Raccoon ate ate my sensor wires. Can I override them so I can use my remotes?

The safest thing to do is fix them. It really isn't hard, I have done it myself. The wires are small and you can buy move at hardware store or radio shack. When you get them repaired, spray them with ammonia.. raccoons do not like that. This is from the Internet: Low-Voltage Circuits 1 Raise the garage door using the control button on the garage wall or the remote control unit from a vehicle. Inspect each sensor to make sure the green or red power-indicator lights are illuminated. Proceed to the next step if one or both lights are not illuminated.
2 Stand a stepladder at the area of the garage door opener unit. Unplug the power cord from the outlet at the ceiling. Remove the cover at the back of the unit. Identify the connection terminals where the ends of the low-voltage senor wires attach. Reattach a loose wire to the appropriate terminal. Tighten the terminal screw with a small screwdriver. Plug in the power cord and observe the lights on the sensors. If both lights are not illuminated, proceed to the next step.
3 Inspect the double-strand insulated low-voltage wires from each sensor to the back of the garage door opener. Use the stepladder to inspect the wires near the upper part of a wall and at the ceiling. If no damage is noted, one or both sensors must be replaced. Proceed to the following steps if any wires are bare, burned or broken in one or more places.
4 Loosen the terminal screws that connect the faulty wires at the back of the overhead unit. Start at the ceiling and pull the wires out of the insulated fasteners at the ceiling, walls and along the side of the door opening to the sensor. Disconnect the ends of the wires from the terminals on the sensor.
5 Determine the length of a replacement wire using the faulty wire. Cut a piece of new double-strand insulated low-voltage wire to length with electrical pliers. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the both strands at one end. Attach the ends to the appropriate terminals on the sensor.
6 Start just above the sensor. Feed the opposite end of the wire through the fasteners at the side of the door, the wall and the ceiling. Strip the ends of the wires as before. Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals and tighten the screws. Plug in the power cord to the opener unit.

Garage door opener

The green eye receives the the signal from the Amber side. When is not on the sensors won't work. As far as the cold chamberlain did have a few issues with sensors not working or intermediate issues in cold weather. Their solution was to replace the sensors. But before you do that check everywhere the wires are stapled. Make sure that they are not pinching the wires.

Why won't my Genie garage door opener close without going back up.

So it seems the Main garage door unit on the ceiling is ok. The problem is with hand held unit. Usually the circuitry is ok. Try changing the battery. It has helped me. Also make sure the sensor on ceiling unit is not blocked ad is free of cobwebs.

Check your door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

The green light on the motor unit is an LED and random flickering is normal. Your problem is most likely caused by an electrical storm or power surge. You will need to remove the logic board from the motor unit and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board especially around the small transformer. Your holding that button in will most likely have erased the memory of the unit and all your remotes will need to be programmed once you find your problem. I really suggest you call an technician at this point.

If the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering. If they aren't lit tweak them a bit. If they both won't come on you have a bad sensor or the wiring leading to it.

If the main light doesn't flash 10 times you can increase the 'down force' which is a control on the rear of the motor unit. Increase this just a bit and try.
