I cant switch my iphone as it is only giiving the apple picture but doesn't open so I want to format it?

Try increasing the volume both with the hardware buttons and through the software in Settings. If not try to reset it by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. If his doesn't work, either restore it through iTunes or take it to an Apple Store to check for hardware problems.

If the problem is consistent in other windows besides strictly the keyboard it is possible that the capacitive touch panel is defective or has been damaged.

You can format your iPhone by doing a Restore. A restore is done by plugging your iPhone into a computer with iTunes, using your USB Cable that plugs into the charger.

When plugged in, there is an option in iTunes to Restore, this will re-install the operating system. When its done it will give you the option to load a backup onto it, or just start it as a new iPhone, starting it as new will be like a Factory Default iPhone.

-One other way to do it is through the Settings on the iPhone. On your iPhone through Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Settings & Content. This will do what it says, however can take up to several hours to complete as it is an intense process, this also doesn't re-install the operating system, just wipes your personal data.

I assume you mean the apple logo on the black background which appears at the start up. There is not much you can do before you bring it to the Apple store or an authorized reseller:

1. Hold both the home button and sleep button for about 1 minute.
2. If this doesn't help, connect the iPhone with your computer until it synchronizes.

If this doesn't solve your problem I suggest you bring it to an Apple store or an authorized reseller and explain them your problem.

Hey !!! its to do with files which are supported by Iphone. I have the sameproblem too - guess we have to forego some files !! As far as I know - unsupported file systems are the problem.

Just to clarify, the Apple Iphone doesn't tranfer file data by bluetooth. So whoever sold you the handset should have mentioned this. The Bluetooth on the phone is only for use with a bluetooth earpice or carkit.
