My motorola Q is displaying motorola flash mode bootloader versionBOOT_C_03.05.00R_MPAP. Please help.

I can help you with your Motorola MotoQ.

What has happened is that the firmware, or system software, of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer boot or be recognized by the computer.

This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware.

The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech there.)

If you are handy with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times.

My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone.

I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q.

Try starting it in bootloader mode. Hold down the # and * key then press the power key. (3 keys in total). You should get a bootloader screen. If you do your phone can be saved. If not...

this is the programing mode where the software was originally loaded. Try to remove the battery while the phone is turned on. Sometimes this will reload and allow the phone to work normally. If not contact motorola for warranty info.

bootloader is the programing mode for when motorola loads the operating system. Typically this will happen when a bad flash code is used. You can try and remove the battery while the phone is turned on and hope it reloads the OS. Otherwise talk to your carrier about warranty stuff.

Hmm - that kind of message is most likely the basic boot loader in the unit getting activated, this would normally be used in manufacturing to get the 'product firmware' (the programme that makes the product do what it does) into the unit on the production line.

For this to be appearing in customer hands I'd suggest that the product firmware has gotten corrupted. Being unable to run the product firmware the unit is entering it's bootloader and expecting new firmware to be put into it.

Unless your product manufacturer's support webpages have firmware downloadable for the product, along with details of how to do it, then i'd suggest that your unit probably needs the attention of an approved service centre or manufacturer service department.

If the product is still under warranty then the warranty may cover fixing this fault - check terms and conditions and/or contact the manufacturer or the store you bought it from - you may get it fixed free or replaced under warranty by the manufacturer or the retailer.
If it is out of warranty then it may likely cost something to get your product repaired, but it's probably worth making enquiries - a repair may be worthwhile but you'd need to find out cost. It may be worth contacting the manufacturer and asking if this is a known common issue with this product - if it is then they may have put a mitigation plan in place to support users that experience it and if so this may be available even if the unit is out of warranty.

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows.
