Inside the oven. There are usually 3 fuses. 2 are on the board, while one is on a wire enclosed in a plastic twist to open capsule. The fuses in a microwave oven is a little bit specialized. Be sure to get the proper replacement part.

The 2 screws on the bottom of the stainless steel panel in back have a hexagon head that I can't remove. What type of screwdriver do I need? I want to try and replace the fuse because it is completely...

You need a "nut driver" -- probably either 3/16, 1/4, or 5/16 ". If you have one of those 5-in-1 screwdrivers you see at shopping counters almost everywhere these days, one of the nut drivers on it will probably fit.

The food in the microwave is not heating up I have tested the fuse (F8AH250V) and found that it has blown. Is it safe to replace this fuse (F8AH250V) on my microwave.

Fuses seldom just go bad on their own, but it's safe to replace. Before you replace the fuse, squeeze the tabs of the fuse holder clips together a bit. Sometimes they don't grip the fuse tightly enough, and this can cause heating which damages the fuse. If the fuse blows again there is a bad part in the oven that will need to be located and replaced. For a small countertop oven, it's probably more economical just to replace the oven than to repair it.

Everything works except the microwave function

yes there are fuses inside it,,,but,,,there is also a lot of volts still in it too, "ie, 1000's" and they bite too,
bit like a police stun gun will,,but they may not just stun you,,they could very well kill you,, so be warned!
also the fuses are not the normal sizes you would have at home, and some of them are "slow blow" type and some are "fast blow" type,,, and one is at least 1 to 4 1000 volts type?
and my gess is a fuse has poped becouse the magnatron has given up the ghost and poped its clogs!!! like its dead! and a new magnatron would be dearer than a new microwave to have fitted,,
so,,,get a new unit,,dont tinker with it and stay alive!

Bulb Replacement in Microwave

You have to take off the case. Need a T20 Tamper Torx bit and a Phillips #2 Bit. There are 2 tamper-torx screws on the case to discourage inquisitive types / prevent untrained hands from entering. Once the screws are out (5 in total), slide the cover off the back. On the right-hand side, you will see the electrics. The bulb is behind the black oval shaped fitting that lies just behind the 2 big red wires that carry the high voltage to the microwave tube. Just pry over the bend-down metal tab, and lift off the black oval, bulb is attached to it. Replace, re-install, and test with case off and door open to ensure your replacement works. Re-install the slip-off case and screws. You're done.

Dead replaced fuse now makes loud noise

Yes that noise is causing your fuse to blow. Machine gun sound sounds like the High Voltage Capacitor or High voltage diode is bad. (Loud humming sound is usually a bad magnetron or bad power transformer). Most of these parts are inexpensive, except for the magnetron. But most of the repair bill is most likely going to be for labor.

Based on your model, it looks like an over the range microwave. And to fix any of these problems require the removal of the microwave from the wall. So its up to you if you want to deal with that hassle. But you also have to consider that you'll probably have a hard time trying to find a new microwave that will fit.

Panasonic Microwave Fuse Replacement

Is it like this?
ae5b501.jpg If so, there are several ways to loosen them:

Some folks just use a hammer to tap and loosen the screw, then a "star", t-type, or small flathead screwdriver can be used to remove the screw.

Sometimes the screws are tough, so you may only be able to just bend the post slightly with a punch, then a small flat blade will "grab" enough to turn the screw. Pliers on the handle will help, too.

Another creative solution is to use a hacksaw or a Dremel tool to carefully cut a slot in the head so a flatblade will fit it, as shown in the photo below:
