I don't think that the alarm can be bypassed once installed. So you'll have to contact the aftermarket car alarm installer that put it in to try to get a new fob that will work with it, or else have it uninstalled by an alarm dealer.
I think the wires need to be traced to deactivate the alarm system, one way or another, because most alarms cut into the ignition or start wiring to prevent the vehicle from running.
There is most likely a reset button under the dash somewhere. You can try pressing and holding that button down while pressing the lock button on the remote. If this does not work simply have the dealer reset it for you.
there are different sensitivity settings for the system as well if you have tilt wheel the wires over time tend to bend and become brittle as well as break from use this i assure you is notorious with tilt wheel however the "remote start should not be disconnected instead looked at to ensure it is properly installed ...this is a feature that i have recently installed on my own vehicle ...the wiring is connected into the ignition system and into the lights as well one wire to the coil it should be white ...the remote is a box with wires under the steering column it may be possible a wire was incorrectly installed or the sensitivity level to your alarm needs adjustment sometimes if the level is too low ..the wind will cause it to go off or a stray cat , a pine-cone falling etc ...but the dealer should be able to remedy the issue as this is under warranty
locking and unlocking with the key is to deactivate the alarm not activate it, the alarm is activated every time the car is locked with the remote automatically, u need do nothing else
is the alarm after market ? and is so you need to replace it with another after market one .. now if the alarm is factory ?...you will need a remote control from the dealer and they will reprogram it for you
That remote should not be able to be programmed by you, it needs to be programmed by the dealer using their computer. I know that some later and earlier models can be programmed by the user, but I did some research on this as i have a 96 as well and it seems the 96 was a dealer computer thing. If you in fact bought the remote from the dealer they should be willing to program it for FREE. Otherwise I was given a $30 estimate for the programming.
I would say you have two options, You can take it to the dealer and have it disconnected, or you can go to an aftermarket car stereo/alarm store they will install an aftermarket alarm and disable your stock one at the same time, for probably about as much as the dealer would charge to just disable it. First just call the dealer to get a quote on how much that would cost, and then call the alarm place and get a quote. Thanks, Lee
It is a fault with the alarm system, or with the alarm remote. check the battery in the remote (key). If remote is ok, you will have to disconnect alarm to start your car normally. Go to a car electrician , or to a car alarm dealer, or to Ford if the alarm is the original one to fix it or replace the alarm.
