Changer problems are very common in the Torrent. These radios are very specific to the Torrent and specific to 2006. i usually take the stereo apart and replace the cd changer drive, replace it and then reinstall the stereo back into vehicle.. These Radios are programmed directly into data stream so you can remove the radio and reinstall it without having to get a code for it to work. But if you try and install a different stereo from another torrent it will have to be programmed to your vehicle before it will be able to work.
only CERTAIN Sony players will play LP MiniDiscs. You cannot play LP on the original stereo models (JE500's, JE330's, MDS series for the most part). It's only the ones that have a usb port on them or are marked LP2 or LP4 on them. Actually, the cheap plastic NE models can play long play discs. Hope that this helps. Let me know.
all you can do is buy a lens cleaning disc. when a cd player goes the cost of fixing it will never be worth it . solution buy a new cd player( youronly other option is to replace the lens or after taking apart cd player see if something is jamming it stopping the operation) but once again after doing this(installing car stereos) for 5 years i can almost guarentee you need a new deck. unless of course its just one disc then i would check the formatt
Turn the radio off and disconnect the battery. This will reset the radio and cd player, NOTE:' MAKE SURE THE RADIO IS OFF OR YOUR GOING TO BE PROMPT TO ENTER A CODE TO REACTIVATE THE RADIO. Good luck and keep me posted.
If you are using windows Media Player to burn the cd you have to burn to an audio cd. You can only burn to mp3 cd if your car or home system canread them. Wma audio cannot normally be read by car or home audio. The file format is called WAV
The car stereo has 2 +12V inputs: the constant batt input and the key in one. So actually the stereo is always connected to +12V, even in standby. When you turn your key, the key in input also starts, thus starting your stereo instantly. When you turn the ignition on, the key in input is switched off for a couple of seconds, so that all the power goes to starting your engine. After that key in input should be back on - this is your problem here.
One possible solution would be to cut this wire out, and split the RED battery +12V cable so that it enters in the key in input as well. Check wiring diagrams!.
Test this with cables out (without reinstalling the whole thing back in) and if it works.......leave it and put everything back in.
Only downside is, you have to turn off the radio by hand when you exit your car - or you could lose all battery power !
Buy A CD Lens Cleaner and put it in to the CD Player and keep retrying until the drive plays it and then follow the instructions for the CD Lens Cleaner after its finished try playing a CD if it still wont play try another disc and if it does not play that try reset the player by unplugging it for five seconds if it still wont play the CD drive has failed in the drive and you need a new stereo. Stereos dont last forever so dont be surprised if you need to buy a new one
